I'm fine with people selling them, after the product is produced and sold, not months beforehand. Not only is it against the rules of the site, it's unethical and stupid. Go ahead and list, but don't be surprised if your listing gets removed due to reports, or trolled. I've seen both happen already. Most posts don't last more than two days. Wait until you actually have the product in your hand. Otherwise, you're nothing but a glorified scam artist.

Nope. You can list 30 days prior to release per eBay's policy on preorders.

Personally I wouldn't list something more then 7 days in advance and certainly not if the item was preordered from an unreliable site like Buy.com

MW3 hardened editions "sold out" very quickly too and they pop up cheap every now and then still.

Regardless, it's far more than 30 days before release, and there's many people listing. They're being removed though, which is good. At least eBay isn't keeping a blind eye to it. Nonetheless, selling an item you don't have, to me, is nothing more than a scam. How could you expect a person to pay, with no refund, for an item you can't guarantee, in any way? You're merely forwarding a product, for an outlandish price. It can't be considered a collectible until it has been released, and is established as such. Anyway, if people want to pay, and they end up getting the short end of the stick, I suppose that's on them. I just know I would never pay for something, only to find out it was damaged during shipping, and is impossible to replace. Or that it turned out to not be a collectible at all. There's always going to be that small group who go out of their way to cheat others, and those who enable them, and have too much money to spend. I'm fine with that. I just don't like people listing before it has been released. That's just wrong, to me.

Most of the bids are fake. It looks like there may be one legit person bidding, but the loser who listed the item is fake bidding to raise his bid. The one above $1000 I know for a fact is fake. I doubt we'll see many legit people bidding, unless they're completely senseless.

You have definitive PROOF that it's the seller bidding up their own item? I thought eBay masks everything except the first and last characters on bidder names anymore. If you don't have concrete evidence that it's the seller bidding up their own auction, then I'd suggest you step back and stop making accusations that you can't back up.

I honestly don't see the value of this thing appreciating.

Limited editions don't seem so limited to me anymore... and for that reason they don't appreciate. The most recent example of appreciation is Diablo III CE. That is fetching a premium at the moment.

Just out of curiousity... anyone else have the MGS4 LE? That thing went on sale shortly after release, and sat for a while. Now that it has been out and gone... it seems that hasn't appreciated at all. But as a fan, it doesn't bother me too much. But also as a fan, you wouldn't mind the value appreciating either.

Eh. I don't know. I buy games to play and if one of them ends up being 'omg rare' or worth more than I paid for it much later on, then bonus for me. But I definitely don't usually go into a store looking to buy a game hoping that it'll become some 'collectible' later on.

The only recent game I felt would likely end up going HTF was Catherine, since I figured not a lot of people would keep the game since it's kinda weird and has some cheap difficult moments, like when one of the bosses seems to catch up to you in a nanosecond.
