I'd love to moonwalk into the superbowl with the San Diego Chagers, but I won't. I guess with the last pick of the day I'll take the only QB that can make Vick look like a pocket passer. Bob Griffin The Third and your Washington Redskins!

I still haven't figured out how the hell to audible individual players. Last year, I could just highlight the player and press A to pull up a menu to change his coverage. I don't know if it was a different control scheme or what. This year, pressing A just switches players. Anybody know?

All right, now that we've finally got all the teams squared away, it's time to really hammer out the settings. I think we've come to agreements on most of these already, and looking over them, the only one I see that we still need to decide on is player progression (I put that one in bold so you can see what our options are). If anyone wants to raise a question with the other settings feel free...just try not to get too crazy, lol.
Skill Level: All-Pro (preferably with some slider tuning. I just obliterated the Patriots last night 35-3 with my Titans, gaining 300 yards on the ground with CJ. So, I really feel like we could tweak this a bit) Quarter Length: 5 minutes Accelerated Clock: Off Minimum Play Clock: Off Game Speed: Normal Player Progression Frequency: Weekly, Every Four Weeks, or End of Season Coach Firing: Off (I know we talked about how it would be "neat" to switch teams. But I just feel like there are too many variables that could screw things up and cause someone to lose their progress. I feel like it's better safe than sorry on this one) Game Play Tuning: Yes (allows us to adjust sliders) Injury: On (I actually haven't seen that many injuries from the games I've played so far, so I feel better about this one) Pre-existing Injuries: Off (I don't think it's fair for people to start their franchise with players on the shelf...no matter how "realistic" we're trying to be) Trade Deadline: On Trade Type: Enable All Strategy Pad Quick Links: On Strategy Pad Display: Off Auto Strafe: Off Auto Sprint: Off Pre-Snap Menu: Off Coaching Tips: Off Player Names: On Fill Roster: Off (meaning CPU won't sign players to fill your roster) Re-Sign Players: Off (meaning CPU won't re-sign players for you) Progress Players: Off (meaning CPU won't assign XP points for you) Sign Offseason Free Agents: Off (meaning CPU won't sign free agents for you) League Type: Coaches Only Maximum Users: 32 Public/Private: Private Legend: No

Also, I don't know if anyone in the other league has bothered to create a dummy league to see how things really work, but it looks like we get the full training camp experience. Upon starting the league, you're tasked with trimming your roster from 74 players to 70, are given an option to practice with your team, and an option to play pre-season game #1. There are also several players immediately on the trade block. So, seems like there's really going to be a lot to do.
Having said that, I'm probably as anxious as anybody to get started, but I still think we should wait for the first week of the regular season. There are still signings and trades going on, teams finalizing rosters, etc. I don't want us to be stuck with anything that's going to get in the way, that we can't change later. It shouldn't put us too far behind or anything since we'll be advancing the week about every 4 days...so we'll catch up and surpass the real NFL season pretty quickly. One other thing I would advise people look at, I looked through my coaching options after starting the season, and under strategy, they had the auto-subs setting. I looked at it and it was WAY different from what it is offline. Basically, all of the positions were listed to sub out at 49 and to sub in at 51. That just seems incredibly illogical to me as players are going to be scurrying on and off the field all the damn time, which you would think would lead to injuries. By comparison, for offline, the default sub out is 60 and the default sub in is 80. That's a pretty big difference. Not sure what the hell EA is trying to accomplish there. |
