Sample groups (Team Rating - Team Name - Cap Space). The Colts would pick first and the Giants would pick last. You can play around with the groups but I thought this looked pretty fair.
73 – Indianapolis Colts $32.10 million 72 – Minnesota Vikings $12.68 million 75 – Miami Dolphins $9.84 million 75 – Cleveland Browns $9.62 million 72 – St. Louis Rams $7.68 million 79 – Carolina Panthers $9.68 million 78 – Arizona Cardinals $9.45 million 76 – Oakland Raiders $9.17 million 77 – Jacksonville Jaguars $8.66 million 79 – Tampa Bay Bucs $7.72 million 79 – Kansas City Chiefs $7.06 million 77 – Washington Redskins $3.74 million 84 – Cincinnati Bengals $17.91 million 81 – Tennessee Titans $14.21 million 80 – Seattle Seahawks $5.99 million 82 – New York Jets $5.94 million 80 – Buffalo Bills $4.25 million 83 – Chicago Bears $4.04 million 84 – Atlanta Falcons $2.86 million 83 – San Diego Chargers $1.75 million 88 – Houston Texans $14.62 million 86 – Philadelphia Eagles $11.29 million 85 – New Orleans Saints $6.24 million 85 – Denver Broncos $4.80 million 85 – Dallas Cowboys $3.38 million 87 – Pittsburgh Steelers $3.27 million. 86 – Detroit Lions $3.05 million 88 – Baltimore Ravens $2.46 million. 91 – New England Patriots $10.18 million 89 – San Francisco 49ers $6.3 million 91 – Green Bay Packers $4.81 million 90 – New York Giants $4.56 million Edit: This all becomes a non issue if we fill the group so lets keep our fingers crossed for that.

We're going to need to get people to vote on this one because I'm really torn. I understand your argument and agree that weaker rated teams are the ones that need more help. However, this is the first year that money is a factor. And to me, it still makes sense that the teams with the most money to spend would have more of a claim to the top free agents.
Using your example, the Redskins, who only have $3.66M of cap space wouldn't even be able to sign the highest overall free agent, Plaxico Burress, because he wants $4.48M. So, in that regard, it doesn't matter how bad they are or how much they might need the help. They don't have the money. However, looking at your list, it's not as bad as I worried it might be, and there's a reasonable chance that a player like Burress could be gone by the time the Skins get to pick anyway. But it was just an example. I'm just having trouble shaking the thought that this is a money issue and therefore should only relate to money. But I'll go with whatever people think is best. Just need more people to weigh in on it. |

If anybody would be up for playing any pickup games before the league starts, and wouldn't mind possibly giving me any pointers, please send a friend request to me (XBL: DeskLaser), and let's set up some games. Whenever I try to play someone random online, they always cheese to hell. Maybe it's just me, but I was not aware that Aaron Rodgers scrambles all over the field.
For the Free Agency thing, it doesn't matter to me any way it happens, since I don't know enough about what's going on to really know what to do for trades and FA, etc, anyways.

Since it's my first year doing anything like this, I see all FA talk and the trade talk etc, for Season 1 if I more or less want to go out and just play as THE Denver Bronocos. The team I watch Sunday to Sunday, is that going to get me clobbered any worse than being a complete beginner?

As for XP, that sort of makes sense. It's not like you only earn it every 4 weeks. You can just only apply it every 4 weeks. So, whenever you do apply it, you have to wait 4 more weeks before you can do it again. I still think it's better than once a year...which would probably just feel like the old "potential" system. And every week just seems like it would be too tedious considering the progression that you add from one week is going to be incredibly small, and could just be undone by the next week's performance anyway.
