So I'm going to trade in a bunch of wii games today. I traded in some of the games before only one per game though.

Can I be at risk to get banned if I trade in let say 15 games today and about 8 are repeats for me? It would only be the 2nd copy of those games I've traded in and that was over a week ago or more even. Also I'm going to a different BBY today since I'm not near the one I usually trade into.

From reading the thread I saw some people talking about bans, but this was earlier in the year. Although I see them peppered in thread currently too.

the only advice i can give you is if you do not want to get a ban, then never trade in duplicates. once you trade in duplicates, you run the risk of getting ban.

I thought it was 3 trade-ins per game (SKU/UPC), per system, per calendar year.

I've done this with two games ( Battlefield 3 and Mortal Kombat) so far and no ban yet. *knocks on wood*

But I wonder if part of the issue is everyone flipping the wii games from gamestop. That's what I'm doing. I want BBY credit not GS credit. With the $20 preorder deal they have I'm getting all my holiday games there instead of amazon or GS.

If my account has 30 games traded in the last two weeks and 25 of those are wii games and about 8 doubles, might that send a red flag? I wouldn't think so. I think those who are getting banned are trading in way more than me. Plus I'm out of GS credit now so I wont be flipping any time soon again after today. I already got the games so might as well try.

BestBuy is really tricky to figure out when getting banned since they have a different company that handles it. I had 5 months of trading in games I had never traded in before and one day the computer wouldnt accept my trade. It had to be something about multiple games I traded in when BlockBusters were closing around me but I tried only trading in duplicate copies so I would be ok in future.

I never bought new games and traded them in right away or tried to push the limits with 3 copies back when it was thought to be ok. I never tried to convert Gamestop credit or pushed the limits of trading in. I simply traded in a few games here and there that had value and I was finished with. BestBuy can't tell you why you got banned because its not them banning you. My advice to you is never trade in duplicate copies if you plan on trading in to BestBuy in the future.

@ people resorting to using their passports to get around a trade ban now...

Besides which, I don't even have a passport since I've never been outside of the continental US, save to visit our neighbor to the north(Canada). Of course, thanks to G.W. Bush now I NEED a in' passport just to go to in' Canada. Thanks GW, you pos.

Why not just wait the year from when you first found out you were banned and try again like some of us have? That reminds me that I gotta head there tomorrow to dump the two Dead Rising 2 games and my copy of NeverDead(like the game, but just can't get past the repetitive nature of it).

To each their own. But quite frankly $155 is a lot of cash to spend just to be able to trade into someplace again. Again though, to each their own. But since it's so much for a in' passport I doubt I'll ever go to Canada again unless I pull an illegal immigrant move and sneak back and forth over the borders.

Before 9/11 and the start of the Homeland (In)Security department, I didn't NEED a motherin' passport to go to Canada, so I never thought about getting one. As for going anywhere else, I'm perfectly content not going round the rest of the freakin' world.

Ha I was just a BB on Saturday and the guy in front of me was trading and he gave the dude his passport. I thought to myself "what's up with that?".

Hopefully those(like me) who got banned once before have learned their lesson and won't go whole hog on trading stuff in and doing iffy flips(like buying a game on sale to trade right back in) or else they'll have to join the military or go back to school to possibly get around the ban the next time.

I love how IATGC assumes I got a passport just for this sole reason only. Not because I needed to apply for it when I want to travel around the world.

some states even allow you to change your driver's license number

i agree to a certain point, ppl should just learn their "lesson," but bestbuy made it too in the beginning to go whole hog with trade in credit. I plan to only trade in personal games from now on, with maybe the occassional flip, but will definitely not do more than 1 of the same game. Just need to build up $200-300 in credit to pick up the new releases I want over the next few months.
