From what I have read, this takes place right after kingdom hearts 2. So yes

How can I put this....YES. The KH series doesn't really care about people new to the series.

I've beat the 1st two games and I still had no clue what was going on. Game was still fun though.

The controls are definitely different due to the system having only one analog stick, but they are definitely doable. If you can play birth by sleep, 3d, should not be too much of a problem. The only thing i am having trouble with is selecting commands in the heat of battle. Getting to the dpad can be problematic sometimes

Wondering how I can go back and play through the kingdom hearts series? My ps3 isn't backwards compatible so yeah.... Any thoughts?

Buy a ps2 on the cheap or wait for a potential collection. Don't hold your breath on the latter

It also support Circle Pad Pro so that might help with the control
