Any new Tribes Players?
Don't forget to add CheapyD and CHAT-TEST to your buddy list... The first one is self-explanitory, but CHAT-TEST will allow you to use the pre-fabricated msgs on the servers that have an arrow next to their names. For a great resource on Tribes stuff...check out www.tribesaa.com , specifically this section: http://www.gamerplug.com/tribesaa/forumdisplay.php?f=59 |

I skipped out too. VGD's shipping is a little too high for me. I have to really want the game before I will buy it from them.
EDIT: If they offered USPS shipping at the lowest cost possible then I would probably buy from them all the time. I don't mind waiting a week or two for my games when I get a great deal. That's what I've been doing with EB's super saver shipping thus far |

I bought it, but have only just gotten through the first few training missions. The controls will probably become second nature soon, but for the time being they're still a bit confusing for me.
I was wondering what control set up most of you used? THe default setup A? I've gone through the training with this, but I think I'd rather have the main trigger on the R1 or R2 button in stead of L1 or L2. I do plan to go online (and get my butt kicked) this Sat & Sun Mornings (EST) b/c I've had the network adapter for a year or so, but never used it. |

Holy Christ, I went online last night and got my ass kicked left & right. I need more practice, that's for sure but it was a lot of fun.
Not many of the servers I found allowed Modem players though, which sucked for me. |

Did you try the servers with the
I'm not sure if they allow 56k or not, but they are the only ones that allow the in-game "chat" Also, they are the servers with the best quality players. |

I'll look again tonight for the symbol you mentioned. Thanks
To be fair, I was only looking at the Death Match servers b/c I've only been playing the game for a few days (hours really) and I'm not that great yet, so I wanted to choose DM so I'd only be responsible for myself and not mess up other folks games. Hell, I was giving them better stats last night. |

So I've had a chance to play this online a lot this weekend. This is too much fun, the $17 charge (when you include shipping) was well worth it for this game. I've played at all hours of the day & night, and there is always a game going.
I was confused at first b/c I thought the online games that said "Modem: No" meant modem players like myself could not join. Now I realize (corre ctly, I think) that it is warning you that the game is being hosted by a modem player. It's really a fantastic online game. The single player offline is pretty boring (but good for practice), but online this is a ton of fun. A great way to break in the PS2 Network adapter I've had for so long but never used. |

Why are people complaining about S&H? 3.99 seems fair to me. That's what I've been using. I see packages coming that are actually worth more shipping that what I paid for. I have always had a great experience shopping at VGD.
Anyways, as some of you know my PS2 is in the shop getting fixed, so I can't join anyone in the game yet, but I'll make sure to add the names once I get it....though I'll probably have FFXI by then

Glad you are enjoying it, aminerva.
It only gets better as you get used to the gameplay. yellowaznboy, I'd seen that www.mlgpro.com was/is considering adding Tribes to their game list. I wonder if it will ever happen. |

I feel pretty comfy with the game now, except for the Chat-Test Commands. When someone says hi to me it takes me about 30 to 60 seconds to reply. A lifetime in FPS games.
One of the great things about the games in the many roles you can play. Lots of people love to charge the other team, but I enjoy hanging back making repairs or sneaking off to destroy the hardware of the enemy. Good times... Oh, for buddy list purposes I use AMinerva (I don't know if the buddy list is case sensitive). Hope to see some of you online. |

I was looking at this game yesterday, but I didn't know if anyone played it online. But, now that I see this, then alot of ppl do play it, right? And I'm sure it doesn't have this, but does it have voice chat capabilities?

The pre-recorded messages are pretty extensive, but you have to memorize the keys to transmit each message... else you'll be like me, a sitting duck, while you read the options on the screen trying to put your sentence together.
