I can't believe how many good games are coming out for the PSP that none one is talking about.

Killzone Liberation
http://www.gamespot.com/psp/action/k...ml?sid=6160695
GTA: Vice City Stories
http://psp.ign.com/articles/742/742681p1.html
WTF
http://www.gamespot.com/psp/puzzle/b...ml?sid=6160711
Medal of Honor
http://psp.ign.com/articles/741/741319p1.html
Gun: Showdown
http://psp.ign.com/articles/740/740944p1.html
Ace Combat X
http://psp.ign.com/articles/740/740813p1.html
Capcom Classics Reloaded
http://psp.ign.com/articles/739/739973p1.html
Mercury Meltdown
http://psp.ign.com/articles/738/738092p1.html
Marvel Ultimate Alliance
http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/932590.asp

Plus there are a good amount of promising games coming out withing the next few weeks.

Dungeon Siege (hopefully)
Death Jr.: The Root of Evil
Powerstone Collection
Every Extend Extra
Lumines II
Sega Genesis Collection
Socom II
Gitaroo Man Lives!
Gunpey
Justice League Heroes
Metal Slug Anthology
Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops

With all these games and my DS Ill be doing more handheld gaming than anything else. My PS3 might even collect a little bit of dust.

There's a reason nobody is talking about those games, and it's because there's nothing spectacular coming out for the system; just more of the same. I don't think there has been a must own title for me since Valkyrie Profile/Tekken. I'll try a rental of Killzone, but my expectations for the game have diminished. If it bares well as its console counterpart has, then I'll buy it. Other than that, the rest of the games scream price drop. The only other game I really really want is Power Stone, but that's a given. I wish it would have been on DS though. Justice League Heroes as well which I would have bought on console instead, but the PSP has a few characters that I wouldn't mind playing as.

The only ones that I'm looking forward to are Killzone (I much prefer the top-down view,) Metal Slug Anthology, and Dungeon Siege.

I think that is a really good list which is building up into the other big titles for next year. Metal Gear being #1 on my list.

If the PSP has any chance to catch up with the DS, it's going to be with this next batch of games coming out and how well the public responds to the PS1 emulator, the GPS and the PSP camera.

This holiday season will decide the PSP's fate. If it doesn't do extremely well, I don't think it will ever catch up to the DS.

But I agree OP, there are some absolutely fantastic games coming out for the PSP. I've been covering a lot of them extensively at PSP Fanboy. Perhaps my most anticipated game on that list is Sega Genesis Collection, but I'm also interested in D&D Tactics, which is on the horizon, as well.

It's a great time to own a PSP, but they still need to make the damned software cheaper.

good boy!

not to mention: alot of previously good titles on the PSP are hitting the $20 mark finally. Me and My Katamari just hit that price point I think, as well as a few others that are noteable (metal gear Acid 2 is going down fast).

I played the Killzone demo...it didn't seem all that great to me. I am really looking foward to Metal Gear....it's the all original action Metal Gear we should have gotten at launch. Most of those other games I've either played before, will buy for another system, or I'm not really interested in. I'm hoping we get another Syphon Filter. I'm also awaiting Earthworm Jim.

Eh... I see three games that interest me, not necessarily a great time. It's more like 'it's a fairly good time to own a PSP'.

3 games perking your interst is a decent number. I can't say the same for the other systems through the rest of the year sadly.

As for the PSP catching up to the DS... ANY part of the pie Sony can grab from Nintendo is a sucess because they have absolutely dominated the portable game market. First venture and they are already taking a nice share, so I think it is a bit unfair to compair the two always.

It was a good time to own a PSP since the beginning of the year, with releases like Daxter, Mega Man Powered Up, Mega Man Maverick Hunter X and many more.

IMO, some people are just being too short sided on PSP. Many of those are great games and the PSP is looking even more amazing right now. I felt it had one of the best launches ever (although it went dry for several months afterwards), then it had a decent Holiday 2005 season, and now the PSP has exploded with an awesome lineup of games in 2006. I can definitely say I want half the list. I'm enjoying my PSP more than several consoles I own right now (Xbox/Xbox 360/GC), except PS2.

Although it doesn't have to be listed, ATV Offroad Fury Pro turned out to be pretty good too, especially when compared to Blazin Trails.

On that list, I want
Death Jr.: The Root of Evil
Powerstone Collection
Every Extend Extra
Lumines II
Sega Genesis Collection
Gitaroo Man Lives!
Gunpey
Metal Slug Anthology
Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops
Killzone Liberation
WTF
Ace Combat X
Capcom Classics Reloaded
Mercury Meltdown

That's basically consoles and handhelds for you. Although people might think the DS is different, due to dual screens and a touch screen, most of the games are more of the same of a GBA version, but with an added screen or touch screen controls, that usually add nothing special. I guarntee you probably buy more of the same games every year on consoles, so why not PSP? Plus, there are brand new games on PSP which have been great, like Loco Roco, PQ Practical Intelligence, etc.

The game would have looked like crap on DS, since the DS is no where near Dreamcast quality graphics.

Here's my opinion on some the OP mentioned:
- WTF is a novel but monotonous game.
- Ace Combat is pretty darn good.
- Killzone is nowhere near as good as what some are giving it. Boring and unintuitive.
- GTA:VCS - I'm in no hurry to play another GTA game unless it's next-gen.
- Metal Gear: Portable Ops should rock, though I've only played a little of it.
- Also looking forward to Every Extent Extra, hoping it's not too much like Fantavision.
- Gitaroo Man is awesome, even if it's mostly a port.
- I hated the first Death Jr's gameplay and camera.

Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony is awesome. If you like Diablo/Diablo 2/Champions of Norrath/Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance, etc, then you WILL enjoy DS. The only problem was the lack of character choices at the beginning of the game but having a "pet" or "helper" makes up for that drawback. The game is responsive, fluid and alot of fun. Makes my PSP worth owning.

The PSP gets alot of hate towards it and I dont know why... sure it could use a few more imaginative high profile titles but what it does have is very solid.

The Valkyrie Profile port, Locoroco, the PSP versionof the Sims 2, Ghost N Goblins or whatever its called... etc... all good games.

I didn't even know Every Extended Extra was out already... I went to reserve Gears of War today and saw my EB was already selling them... >_<

I've got Vice City, but the only other two that interest me are DJ2 and Metal Gear.

If Sony would open be more vocal about the PSone downloads, the resurgence of the PSP can begin. If they wanna sell PSPs, release FFVII and you will definitely sell them out.
