Anyone planning on camping out for the Wii in front of the Nintendo World Store in NYC? I dont have a preorder, but the clerks at the store said they would have plenty of Wiis for anyone who shows up on Sunday.

They open Sunday at 8am. I plan on heading over there a few hours before they open. Gonna bring my DSL, as Im sure everyone in line will, we can get in some multiplayer goodness while we wait.

I just got back from the NWS and I played some Monkey Ball. It was alot of fun and controlled well.

Now Reggie has said that he will be in NYC to hand out some of the first Wii's to the Nintendo faithful. I asked the clerk at the store if he would be there and they said that he might be at the Times Square TRU. WTF? How could Reggie come to NY and NOT be at the Nintendo World Store? If Im gonna camp out for hours to get a Wii I want Reggie to hand it to me dammit!!!

If I cant get one at the Target im going to with my mom.....im telling my dad to go there for me and get one since hes always out in the city...

I'll be at TRU Times Square for the launch event (from everything I've heard, it WILL be there; makes sense, as it's a much larger store). However, my fiance has our Wii reserved at Ninty World, and we'll be picking it up there Sunday morning. I've asked in this thread if any CAGs are going to the TRU event, but have gotten no bites yet.

I've heard the same thing about NWS having plenty of Wiis on Sunday, so I guess as long as you get there early enough, you shouldn't have a problem nabbing one

Isn't Wombat gonna be kickin' it live at this event?

Wombat said he might be at Times Square for the event cause he had a pass or something......

Do you think there will be any Wiis available for non preorders at the TRU midnight event? Showing up for that would be even easier for me than waking up at the buttcrack of dawn to go to the NWS.

Arrgh, sorry if this is late, but I was in line all day yesterday (though I really didn't need to be).

And yes, tons of non-preorder Wiis were available. I'm not sure what the official numbers are, but there were supposedly 8,700 Wiis at TRU. No one should have much trouble snagging one today if they didn't get one last night.

ETA (around 6pm, EST): Just heard that TRU Times Square is sold out of Wiis o_O;
