I opened up my PC today, and to my surprise, the video card said ATI

I thought I had a bad card, and who knows, maybe I do, but how Do I find out what card I have? It didn't say on the card itself, and I have no idea what I am doing with computers.

Right click on the desktop>properties>settings then look where it says display. It will probably be "plug and play monitor on vidcard name."

FYI...you can get much more detailed info (like video RAM) by using a DXDiag.

From the Start Menu, select RUN, then type dxdiag. Assuming you have DirectX 8 and above, after a few seconds select the Video tab and there you go.

Haha, thanks for the help guys, I don't really play PC games, so I don't have to worry about the card that I have. I'm debating opening up my copy of DX:IW and wanted to find out what card I had.

Nice card, you should be able to run almost any game on that without many problems.

A 9800 is plenty of video card for anything you can buy in games or applications right now. If you aren't big into PC games or graphics apps I'd have to ask why you have such an expensive video card. I wouldn't class it as bieng ripped but nore like selling a Porsche to someone who never goes over 45 MPH.

If I were you I would open the game up. I have only played like an hour of it( just got it about a week ago) and so far it seems pretty good

You can run most games, probably all, on highest settings, but then again, depends on what the rest of the PC is like.

With a 9800 w/ 128mb you're going to run into problems with Far Cry with everything maxxed out.

The only problem you will have is if you max out AA and AF, I can run the game with max settings w/o shadows (don't like them anyways) on 1280X1024 with 20-30 fps with my R9600 XT (a few steps below your card)

What do you need for Far Cry to be maxed out?
I'm running a 2.8Ghz 800Mhz FSB, 1024MB DDR400, 9800Pro

you should be able to run everything at very high settings (water at ultra high) at 1024 x 768. To have everything maxed out, 6x FSAA, AF, at 1600x1200, you'll need a 6800 ultra.

btw, do you have integrated audio? Try running the audio test in 3DMark03 and see if there are any significant FPS hits with the audio on and audio off tests.
