So I should arrive in portland tuesday am. I've got my mapquests printed out for game rush, game crazy, and circuit city. Which should I hit first? Which isn't worth my time? I plan on checking out target too since it looks like they're having a good clearance lately.

ps.
Does also know of a good used cd store in the area too? I've found the ones by colleges are gold mines as college radio stations usually dump all the promo stuff there and it gets sold cheap.

What are you looking for? I don't see the point of going to Circuit City unless they are having a clearance sale. But it really depends on what you are looking for. I would definitely suggest you check out a GC or two, though, to get an idea of what they are like and see if it would be worth getting the MVP membership. (You did say you were moving here soon, right?).

Target is hit or miss. If you are looking for something specific send me a PM because I've been to several of them the last few days. Lots of NBA and NHL 06 type games for $7.48.

Edit - and check your PM too, I sent you some more specifics there...

Well, then, don't get your hopes up too much. If you want Metroid Prime 2 for $9.98 (POSSIBLY $4.98 by Tuesday though) I can tell you where to go.

Nah, no metroid prime 2. Mario Party for that price would be great though. Or some GBA games.

Well, the best thing to do is just go to as many Targets as you can then - each will have different stuff...

You may also want to check out a Fred Meyer or two. They're similar to Target in most respects, though in my experience they tend to have more of the top rated games and less licensed mush.

Yeah, I think he is familiar with Fred Meyer (or at least I remember so from another thread). He's from Alaska and I think they are up there (but Target isn't?). Anyway, 30% off clearance games now and they recently added some to the stacks. It's worth searching out their clearance rack in any case. Otherwise their stuff is pretty much just MSRP. Apparently my local Fred Meyer had Wiis on Saturday - I overhead some douche in Fry's (which is far from my house) bragging to the employees there that he bought 3 at my local FM's. When I asked him about it he said "Yeah, they are all sold out now, wanna buy one?". .

The one on Pacific Hwy in the King City area? If so, I'll vouch for it too. I had to make a trip to Sherwood last month and decided to stop in on the way back (I live in SE so I'm rarely ever out that far). Wound up getting Dragon Warrior III for GBC, and TaleSpin and Kirby's Pinball Land for GB from the 3 for $10.

I just PM'd you. Tigard seemed like a nice little town. Beautiful views of the city as we drove through at night.

There's a nice little independant game store in a side mall next to Best Buy in Beaverton, prices aren't amazing but the selection of rare titles can be pretty nice.

Oh yeah, I've been there - lots of older stuff too.

Nate, I don't remember the guys names that were working there but there were two - one processed my trades while the other was fixing up the stacks. The guy who rang me up commented on there being tons of trades that day .

Do you remember the name so I can maybe mapquest it? And define 'rare' games.... Valkyrie Profile 1? Disgea? Atlus stuff?

I don't remember the name but it is in the little mall (Cedar Hills Crossing?) where the Best Buy is in Beaverton - so just look up the Best Buy. Take the Walker Road exit off of 217 and turn left at Cedar Hills (I think - first big main street you hit).

It is a dead, pathetic little mall that has been slightly rejuvenated due to the big box stores in front of it (Best Buy, Old Navy, etc). The game store is tucked WAY into the back. I couldn't tell you a single thing they have there, but I can say that if they do have Disgaea, etc, it won't be cheap.

The store in Beaverton is called GameTrader. Great retro selection but it's pricey. Current-gen is a little better though. Nice place to look around.

Also, there's a store across the street from Cedar Hills Crossing called Everyday Music (next to KFC). They sell new and used CDs, cassettes, records, DVDs, and VHS and they have a huge room of budget stuff too. They experiemented with taking in games but I don't think that went too well because they only have a small selection of used games that hasn't grown between my visits there. There's also an Everyday Music downtown on W 13th and Burnside (a few blocks west of Powell's Books).

I went to powell's books yesterday. Could have easily spent hours and $100s of dollars in there. Wanted to walk down to that music store that I saw but the toddler neeeded a nap so we couldn't.
