Saw this thread and it reminded me how long it had been since I had taken a stroll through Craigslist. I found this gem on the first page of the Video Game section.

There's a local store in my area that will post one game at a time with really cheap prices flooding the entire video game section. I saw Brink for $1.5 and thought why not. So I called and turns out I had to pick it up in store. Okay sure, I drive near it from time I time so I stopped by.

He comes back with the game which he just tosses to me and asks for the money. I pay the 25 walk out then walk back in telling him I was to trade in a game. I open the binder, grab the ad, and hand him brink.
He wasn't happy and I walked out with 32 cash instead of 35 credit.

I wouldn't have minded maybe paying a few extra bucks since it was a local business. But the owner was a jerk, and he shouldn't advertise games for prices he won't sell at.

(I will say I never felt that I was rude to the man, I was actually excited walking in and discovering a local game shop)

C-list around here now have a few people who like to post up escort phone numbers and the such with the ads. It is easy enough to google the number and make sure that "Jada" really has those NES games and isn't just a pro.

Usually the ads are pretty easy to spot. Bunch of NES games for 2 dollars each - including Mega Man, Battletoads, a few regular commons, and Little Samson.

I have to assume it is probably one of the many stores that have closed up recently or one of the other failing stores. They are also the only ones I ever see fighting on craigslist. Don't go to Sudden Impact, go to me I'm better. blah blah blah

I know this probably sounds wrong, but I hate 99% of the "Mom & Pop" video game stores. They may have slightly better pricing (big maybe), but they are generally D-bags.

I've seen a bunch of them just openly lie to people about the values of carts, saying they are worthless and nobody buys them anymore (games like Link to the Past, Metroid, Mario World) and that he is doing you a favor taking them. Obviously the person bring them in should be better informed on what they have, but at least tell the truth. Say these are pretty good games, but this is the best I can do. With overhead, bills, rent, having to sit on them, etc.

Also one of the local places won't take back games that don't work. They post a notice saying they all sales final and that they test games before they put them out (I doubt it) and if it doesn't work sorry.

The video game section here on CL has been a joke the last week or two. Around 6-7 am or so, the entire page gets flooded with video game ads from supposed dealers with some really stupid prices. I'm not talking 1-2 ads in a row either. They literally have no less than 15-20 ads in a ing row that crowd out the ads by everybody else. It's ridiculous.

There really should be a seperate CL page for each category so that regular people just trying to sell their shit don't have to compete with dealers who will post up their whole inventory once a frickin' day.
