That was a great post. Thanks for that.

There's a lot there, and to be honest I agree with most everything there. I think the differences in opinion come down to my being okay with one-off goofy scifi. ("Shrink the Defiant? Ah what the hell, it's 2 in the morning, I'm not going anywhere.")

Of the discussion you put out there, the development of characters throughout the conflict is a very strong point, and it's definitely what I was referring to in noting how clinical the overarching conflict felt. Kira's a great example for that, you were spot on. If she doesn't seem completely caught up in that to the viewer, then how are the rest of the characters going to come off?

(Also, while Odo's change was caught up in the war, it was precipitated by many seasons of his search for Self, and as a result it's tough to chalk that change up to the War.)

I'd like to write more but I'll drone on. The point of *how* to execute an overarching story arc is worth addressing, especially as it relates to ST.

The A/B story format is something that Babylon 5 executed perfectly, they were often connected even if it wouldn't be apparent until several episodes or seasons down the line. Trek mostly used it for stories that didn't warrant their own episode.

I watched Sins of the Father last night. I forgot how great that episode was. The dinner scene was pure pwnage.

Is it just me or would a 5 digit prefix code be to easy to hack? Whats wrong they dont have space hacking in the future?

Prefix code: http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Prefix_code

Note: I realize that WoK was made years and years ago, but we have to judge it by our standards and the fact that it is suppose to be past our future

You realize the HD ones are the first set posted, right? I think they look great, a huge improvement.

i wish they would just re-do some CGI like some of Star Wars is...

...like take away the whole monster in that scene with a new CGI monster made to look sort of old

Two problems.

-It's gonna cost additional $$$ for the new CG
-They are trying to respect the work done by the FX artist of the time. Granted some of the FX's were lost over the years so a remastered one to match as close to the original as possible. Heck that animation where it crawls up his arm is stop motion. An easy fix with cg.

yeah but ill give you an example...(I realize its Star Wars again)...

in the new Star Wars Blu-Ray's, in Episode I, Yoda is CGI. But until this year he was a puppet and wasnt CGI until Episode II and III.

that took away from the credit to the puppetiers and designers, but im my opinion WHO cares, its a product I pay for and I want the top quality I do not care who gets the rights lol

Yoda looked better as a puppet too. I honestly think the CGI on Yoda was shit.

I'm up to the episode in Season 5 where everyone but Wesley and a ridiculously hot Ashley Judd get addicted to that game with the cones and the disc - that could stand a little CGI touch up.

I'm sure everyone knows this by now, but Amazon Prime streaming is available on PS3. So free Star Trek series.

I've been debating between a Roku and an Apple TV for the longest time, and this made my decision now pretty easy.

Did you consider a boxee box? I've been looking at them for a while, just haven't bitten the bullet so to speak.

I respect the fact that 11 movies and hundreds of episodes and no one ever thought to just crash into the other ship?
