For the most part, it seems people dont notice topics here until there is a new post. So I'm bumping this topic.

Probably not in the running for GOTY, but it's good.

I just finished the XBox version.
It's only about 10 hours of story gameplay, but it constantly keeps you coming back for more.

I think it's one of the most original and well-done games I've played since Ico. The demo on the OXM disc didn't do it justice.

My only complaint is that the fighting can get a little tedious at times (there are times where you'll fight 20-30 enemies without the ability to heal yourself) but other than that, I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

(Plus, in the XBox version you can play PoP 1 & 2!)

I second the hate the Demo opinion

I hated it so much, I was taking points off collection/wish list rating topics every time it turned up on someone's

The acrobatic puzzles are easily the best part of the game. Swinging on poles, running on walls...it feels very cool once you've gotten used to it. The combat is somewhat tedious - the Prince simply doesn't have enough moves/weapons to make it as interesting as the fights in DMC or Zelda, for instance. The graphics are stunning (they sort of remind me of Ico) and the storyline, while slightly hackneyed, is presented well.

Probably adventure game of the year.

I was wondering that myself. Every time I read a review, they all said that in the PS2 version you could play the original POP. It made me wonder if the original POP would be in the XBox version. Then I got the XBox version, and was very pleased to find it had both 1 & 2 in it. So did PS2/GC people get ripped off?

BTW, it is a fantastic game. On the short side, but very cool.

What I'm wondering is how the time control aspect is done. I get the whole "fall off a cliff and rewind time" deal but I mean it sounds to me like you won't really be using it that much. Also, you get "sand" or something like that to be able to use it, is this stuff all over the place or is it like a precious, "only use when really needed" type deal?

If you fall a great distance (and you will, often) you can rewind to just before your fall. If you take a lot of damage from a hit, you can rewind and change to blocking, or jump out of the way. There is a lot of sand to be had -- You can get it when you defeat a monster in battle. You can only hold on to a small amount at a time (that amount gets larger as the game progresses).

Because the game is so short, I think a lot of people will see it as more of a rental than a purchase. I am definitely keeping this game in my collection, but I understand that some people get rid of any game they have beaten. If you don't at least rent this though, you are missing out on a great experience.

Yeah, it's definitely not the longest game in the world. But, except for some of the fights, none of the experience is "padded" with unnecessary gameplay. Again, it's much like Ico - short but sweet. If you want to rent it and beat it, that's a good choice. I sort of like lingering over games. :)

You use the rewind A LOT. Fall down, get spiked by a trap, or get hit by an enemy, and you'll soon instinctively hit the rewind button.

Ok, so it's not just some cheap marketing gimmick. Cool, maybe I'll pick it up.

Too bad this game is over shadowed but all the games being force fed to the public. It really is a gem of a game though short. It is one of the most well done game that I've ever played in this generation.

that was the biggest crock of BS ive ever seen...how the hell does a sports game win game of the year. It's not like a normal game. A sports game isn't nearly as creative as half of the games out there. And, what the hell was SWG doing up there for game of the year I betad it and it was freaking awful. I played it all throughout beta and It was easy to tell it was a game that they screwed up. those VGAs were a joke.

Yeah, but at least they had the common sense to make it so a game can only win 1 award. (But WTF is up with Smackdown winning fighting game of the year and SCII getting "most addictive?") I also don't think that Vice City should have been nominated for best animation.

Yeah, that was just odd.

prince of persia is one of those games that is obviously amazing but i dislike it - its obvious technical excellence can't overcome the fact that it is a platformer and thus not my cup of tea

Just beat it and it was amazing. Kinda short but the puzzles and action were fun and hard.

vga's were indeed a joke, but entertaining. Game of the year is prob. FFX2 and you should rent prince of persia, its fairly short
