Chicken Shoot Dev. Frontline Studios Pub. Destination Software Systems: Wii MSRP: $29.99
(Deja Vu Preview) Don't get me wrong. I'm all for shooting chickens with the wii-mote. But that's all this game is! That's it! And it's not a Wii Virtual Console Game for $6. Nope, developer and publisher Jack of All Games is hoping you'll fork over thirty of your hard earned dollars to shoot chickens in your living room. My advice: skip this one and hope Nintendo ports Barney Carnage sometime soon. Or just find an old copy of Duck Hunt and pop that into your NES. Or play the free online version. Ship says "Chicken Shoot? More like Chicken Sh@#!" - mrs. ship

Best Deal:
There don't seem to be any deals for Chicken Shoot.

Purchase At Amazon $29.99 (Free shipping)
Purchase At Family Video $28.24 (99 cent shipping)

Hot Wheels Ultimate Racing Dev. Destination Software Pub. Destination Software Systems: PSP MSRP: $19.99
(Deja Vu Preview) The thing is, I wrote a preview for this game months ago and Ship lost it. I remember there being lots of customization and upgrades. There were multiple levels of gameplay, I'm going with more than two but less than five. It's a PSP game, so the graphics should be good and it's portable. - mrs. ship

Best Deal:
Amazon is offering Hot Wheels Ultimate Racing for $18.

Purchase At Amazon $17.99 (Free shipping on orders over $25)

Ninja Gaiden Sigma Dev. Team Ninja Pub. Tecmo Systems: PS3 MSRP: $59.99
One of the premier games from last generation gets hi-def treatment and tweaks and additions galore. Not only did they add new missions, areas, weapons, enemies, and animations, but now Blondie Big Boobs is a playable character as well. And you can unlock new hair colors for her! It's actually somewhat unfortunate for me to hear that Rachel's story is interwoven between Ryu's levels, but this is a top tier action game that instantly becomes one of the PS3's best games to date. - ship

Best Deal:
Family Video is offering Ninja Gaiden Sigma for $51 shipped. Fry's is slightly more expensive at $55. EB/Gamestop has an exclusive Collector's Edition for $70.

Purchase At Amazon $59.99 (Free shipping)
Purchase At Family Video $49.99 (99 cent shipping)
Purchase At Deep Discount $58.99 (Free shipping)
See fidodido's Fry's ad $54.99
Purchase At EB Games $69.99 (Exclusive Collector's Edition)

Platinum Sudoku Dev. Ubi Soft Pub. Ubi Soft Systems: DS MSRP: $29.99
For those gamers who were sitting around this week thinking how your Gold Sudoku game just wasn't cutting it anymore, I have just the thing for you! If you care at all about this game, you've played Sudoku before and don't need me to explain the game. I'm not sure what, if anything, about this game makes it "platinum". It's a cell phone game port, so you know the graphics must be stellar, and there are some Abercrombie-looking teens in the screen shots available. Other than that, it's way overpriced for a DS Sudoku game. Maybe the platinum refers to how much you'll spend... - mrs. ship

Best Deal:
There don't appear to be any specific deals for Platinum Sudoku.

Purchase At Amazon $29.99 (Free shipping)
Purchase At Family Video $28.84 (99 cent shipping)

Vampire Rain Dev. Artoon Pub. Microsoft Systems: 360 MSRP: $59.99
Caution... Game Over. Caution... Game Over. Caution... Game Over. A perfect example of why a Splinter Cell/Resident Evil mash-up should never be attempted by the developers of Blinx the Time Sweeper. Well, there's a lot of rain and it certainly does suck, so at least it's aptly named. What we have here is a trial and error cluster of Caution... Game Over. As I was saying, a trial and error cluster of masterful proportions that Caution... Game Over. Grr... a trial and error cluster of masterful proportions that forces you to repeat section after section and Caution... I'm shooting him, I'm shooting him... Game Over. Caution... Preview Over. - ship

Best Deal:
Both Amazon and Fry's are offering Vampire Rain for $55. EB/Gamestop is offering a free poster with your purchase.

Purchase At Amazon $54.99 (Free shipping
Purchase At Family Video $56.24 (99 cent shipping)
Purchase At EB Games $59.99 (Free poster)
See fidodido's Fry's ad $54.99

Vegas Casino: High 5! Dev. SVG Pub. SVG Distribution Systems: DS MSRP: $19.99
This game must be sooooo cool because instead of spelling out the number five, there's a 5! Get it, it's like high five, but instead they wrote high 5! Texas Hold'em! Blackjack! Roulette! Slots! Big-6 Money Wheel! The exclamation points are just there to make you want to spend your $20! - mrs. ship

Best Deal:
There don't appear to be any specific deals for Vegas Casino: High 5.

Purchase At Amazon $19.99 (Free shipping on orders over $25)
Purchase At Deep Discount $18.99 (Free shipping)

On The DL with the Shipwrecks

Dragon Spirit Systems: Wii MSRP: $6
In this TurboGrafx-16 vertical scrolling shooter, you are a dragon who can grow multiple heads to combat other dragons, Loch Ness monsters, unhappy trees, and giant turtles. And that's just the first level (unfortunately, since you only have 3 lives and no continues, you might not see much else). - ship

Ecco: The Tides of Time Systems: Wii MSRP: $8
Swim around, eat some fish, and try to save the world again. Or swim around, bump into things, have no idea where you are supposed to go and turn it off. That's at least how I play Ecco. - ship

Missile Command Systems: 360 MSRP: $5
We must protect this house! Team up with a friend to blast incoming missiles before they level your cities in this updated version of the arcade classic. - ship

Super Mario Bros. 2 Systems: Wii MSRP: $5
I get to preview this game because I actually beat it as a kid and Ship didn't. It's the weakest in the trio of Super Mario games for the NES, but entertaining all the same. Play as Mario, Luigi (with the crazy jumping), Peach (who could fly), or Toad (who did something special). This installment had much more vertical level designs and also originated what I call the "flask door world" and "weeding = weapons". It's nostalgia that's well worth the $5. - mrs. ship

Feedback:

Did we miss a good sale on a game? Did we miss previewing a game completely? Well, the only way that everyone can know a better deal is out there is to let us know about it. Post deals you've found or games that we missed in the thread so that CAGs can make sure they are getting the absolute best prices on new releases.

Hmm... during the podcast, I seemed to have gotten my weeks mixed up on the 25% off clearance games at Circuit City. That is of course starting this next Sunday.

Excellent Show...

Super Mario 2 FTW!! My favorite of the 3. It's just so different. One of the first games to introduce "special abilities". If you play with anyone other than Peach you are a fool!! A FOOL I TELL YOU!

if you only dealt with imports you'd be talking about "Dokidoki Majo Shinpan!"... perhaps it's better this way.

I tried very hard to not be so cranky, but I just wasn't very successful!

I still stand by it being the weakest of the three, but I do agree that it's appeal is that it's so different. And yes, why play with anyone other than Peach? Everytime I used Luigi, I died very quickly.

Ship, you have to play Dawn of Dreams ASAP. That was my favorite game from last year. A tragically overlooked title. It does for the Onimusha franchise what RE4 did for the Resident Evil franchise.

I'm disappointed too that Rachel is playable in Sigma. Not because I don't like her play style as much as I wanted Ayane to be playable. Would have made more sense since she is also a ninja after all.

Fantastic show this week! (Dunno why it disappeared from the front page...)

I greatly enjoy Mrs Cranky, please don't restrain yourself... let the crankiness come out naturally.

The show has become so great, it's incredible that you've only been doing it for a few weeks. You must have been married for a decade to have such chemistry. The next step will be international acclaim and fortune, followed closely by the raging egos that will spectacularly destroy the show from within. I look forward to the excitement!

Wow, the things you learn listening to a podcast I loved how mrs. ship was surprised by your reaction to Missle Command as a kid.

Finally, a week of listening to you guys and not wanting to rush out and buy anything (though I will be interested in hearing what you think of Onimusha).

I'm one of the ones who bought Gurumin, and I've started getting into it, but I'm not very good. I'm not sure if I just lack skill or if it's because the camera angles do make it awkward (at one point, I was fighting a boss and I kept hitting the triangle button to get the camera right, but it wasn't re-orienting).

I still love this show, I'm glad you guys are doing it.

Hey, I just got back from a month out of town and have been catching up, and I just wanted to say I will not be checking out your new podcast. I was actually looking forward to it, until I heard you on this week's CAGcast. Aside from your asisine Transformers review(Michael Bay hating is ok, wanting a live action version of the old cartoon is, well, not going to happen), I felt that your comments were very rude. When Cheapy asked you for a summary of the foreplay and you simply refered people to your podcast, that was it. I was going to listen because I'm getting tired of all jokes/stories and little video game discussion on the CAGcast, but I haven't started listening yet so a quick summary would have been nice. Attitude like that just turns me off and I deleted the Foreplay podcast shortly afterwards.

I don't think I even mentioned CAG Foreplay (Cheapy talked about it). I certainly didn't refer people to our podcast at all and the CAGcast is Cheapy and Wombat's show so I was just along for the ride. We touched on the major releases for the week during their podcast and I'm fairly certain that neither Cheapy or Wombat thought I was rude. (I just didn't come up with a very good response once Cheapy was done introducing me.)

As far as Transformers goes, hey, what can I say, I didn't like the movie and those are my opinions. I thought I gave pretty good arguments for why I didn't like it, but there are plenty of people that enjoy it.

If you are wanting to listen to someone who has the same opinions as you on everything, that's going to be a tough thing to find. I'm going to give my honest opinion on everything I talk about.

If you've never listened to our podcast, I will say that I think I'm a lot less negative on CAG Foreplay than I came off on the CAGcast because I'm not just talking about the Transformers movie or Vampire Rain.

Edit: I just went back and listened and I did say that I talked about the DS version of Transformers on Foreplay.

Ship: You were way too nice in your Transformer review. About halfway through the film, I wished for my $11 back; I was thinking I could have used for for something useful, like a Vampire Rain rental.

Wrecks: Heard a Fruedian slip today. I guy was in Circuit City looking for the new Wii Duck Hunt clone. Sounded like he asked, "Do you have Chicken Shit for the Wii?"

Bought Garumin, will probably open it after I finish/tire of Thrillville.

I still find it odd that the CAGcast rehashes most of the deals and new releases which your entire podcast is centered on. Can you work out a system where they more actively acknowledge your coexistance? A common radio practice is the feature tease. Record a 90-second promo to mention the highlights of this week's show, and have Cheapy play it during his show in place of the reading what you wrote on the website.

It's very quick and simple to produce. Get a music bed that's timed out to exact length and edit your copy to fit. Write a standard intro and outro... maybe something catchy that can be thrown on a t-shirt. Give a quick rundown of the biggest new releases... throw in your pick for best deal of the week... perhaps biggest turkey of the week... then tell them to tune in for your show for more. You should still have time to tease things like "tune in this week to find out what happens when Shipwreck's new game purchases can no longer fit inside the apartment."

If it's kept within a couple minutes, it should be unobtrusive enough not to turn off CAGcast listeners who don't like it, and reel in a few new listeners that do. And it will give Cheapy & Wombat a new feature to help flesh out their show.

Just trying to help out with my radio experience.

Then the next step is to start selling "work at home" commercial spots within the feature...

Good show guys, this one really flew by (which is a good thing).

I agree with meager about trying to tie in stuff with the CAGCast.

And ya, I though ship came off a bit negative on Transformers compared to the general consensus here on CAG, but he gave valid reasons.
