hey guys, after a trip to my best buy in waco tx i noticed they had some games out on a table last weekend including Rockstar's Table Tennis on 360 for 9.99. There were some other noteworthy deals that I cant recall (sorry) but all of the deals were pretty good.

So i go back in today with more cash on hand hoping to pick up said Table Tennis... well no "table' (no pun intended) and only a salesman telling me that every weekend the store has a "clearance table" with good deals... is this YMMV??? Does BB really do such a thing each weekend?? Thanks!

One of the BB in my area had a table w 30% off. It had the Halo Faceplate, a few games (not TableTennis) and 360 Disc carrying cases for $6.05 after tax. I bought the Disc case.

Best Buy is up there with CompUSA and Wal-Mart for having the most YMMV deals like this. It's generally done at the store level with whatever the manager wants to unload.

I've heard alot more "success stories" from Best Buy...from front-lane games to having coupons accepted in Price Matches, Wal-Mart on the other hand doesn't do shit

Every once in a while my Best Buy will have one of their media carts full of games and placed right in front of the cash registers with a sign on the cart, "Random% off regular price of all games in cart."

Our BB in Williston, VT has never had one of these tables with discounts. They usually have a table out but they just have normal sale items on it.

I have been to other BB's and seen either carts or tables with things a % off.

These "table clearances" that are posted are generally YMMV. I've *never* seen one of these at my Best Buy. :\

Wal-mart has a ton of YMMV deals too. Usually, it's heavily discounted stuff in the case, but a few months ago I found a cart full of discounted games, including Tales of the Abyss and the most recent Dance Dance Revolution, for less than 10 bucks a piece.

Yeah this type of thing will always be YMMV at BB, I worked there for the past few years and that is how the stores tend to do things, the one I worked at has it's own $10 game endcap for example. Basically once the computer designates something as "at risk" the managers start to think of marking it down to get rid of it so as to lose as little money as possible on the item.

Yeah, I've seen the manager's special "table/bin" at a Best Buy in my area, but not often. Mostly random accessories and such, but I think I bought Viewtiful Joe 2 from it once and they had my reciept on one of those long yellow papers and stuff, and I remember the price being manually adjusted to 15% off or whatever the percent-off was at the table. YMMV, on all aspects of it even existing at your BB.

There's one best buy in our area who will have a stand in dead-center of the store with deals like that occasionally. I picked up Street Fighter Alpha Collection (PS2) and Disgaea 2 for $9.99 there about 4-5 months ago. They've also had Lego Star Wars II and Phantasy Star Universe for the 360 for $9.99.

The Best Buy here is the worst. The only thing close to a "clearance" they've had since the big clear out earlier this year is a rack of "Buy One Get One 50% Off" crap games with old retail prices. Sweet, buy Open Season for $40, get Ant Bully for $20? Where do I sign up?!

This is going to be in the OPs store only.

Best Buy has the right to mark down and do in-store, independant clearances. Some take advantage of this to clear out games which aren't moving to clear up some real estate for newer titles. Others don't.

Also finding good cheap games is so random at least for me. I bought tales of phantasia and final fantasy 2 for the gba for 6.50 a piece on a random trip to toys r us.

One of my local Best Buys used to do this regularly last year. Tons of games, many of them really good, for $5 or $10. I used to make up excuses to stop by this Best Buy as often as possible.

They haven't done it for the longest time. And the other Best Buys in the area have never done it.
