Big Daddy Cool's wrestling topic
Say hello to "Big Sexy" Kevin Nash. ![]() Though questionable as a booker, and certainly not the best wrestler these days, Kevin Nash of the 90s was just too sweeeeeeeeeeeet! Wiki
OWW I can recall Nash breaking into the WWF as Shawn Michaels silent bodyguard. He was called Big Daddy Cool Diesel, and it wouldn't take too long before he finally stepped in the ring. Diesel then began a Hogan-like reign of domination through the WWF. Within a year he had won the IC Title (beating good friend Scott Hall), the Tag Titles (with good friend Shawn Michaels) and in November of 94, he won the World title, beating Bob Backlund in a mere 8 seconds. A record that still stands to this day as the shortest WWE World Championship match ever. Nash would hold that belt until November '95, when he dropped it to Bret Hart. Nash remained in the title picture until his WWE departure in May of '96 for WCW. Nash's time in WCW is well documented. From the most successful angle in wrestling history, teaming with Hall & Hogan to form the NWO, to some of the worst angles in WCW history, such as the "finger poke of doom", booked by Nash himself. During that time Nash held the WCW Tag titles 7 times, and the WCW World Championship on 4 separate occasions. Nash's return to the WWE, was far less successful. He immediately injured himself, and although he would return to headline a few ppvs with good friend HHH, he never returned to his Diesel form. Today, Nash is in TNA, where he acts primarily as a manager in the X-Division. So, how will Kevin Nash be remembered when his career is all said and done? A promising career, marred by chronic injuries to his knees, that prevented him from ever having another extended title reign. His notorious backstage politics, and involvement with The Kliq have left many with a lower opinion of Kevin Nash. Still you can't take away how great the NWO angle was, and how dominating Nash was during his first WWE title run as Diesel. His title reign remains the most recent title reign longer than John Cena's current title reign. ![]() |

I like Nash, I liked Diesel, but good god almighty, I hated the "Big Daddy Cool" moniker. I don't know why, but it came off as corny as all
to me (even as a kid).

Anyone else ever noticed that in the Firepro games that include Nash that he's a total monster? Seriously, do an 8 man Battle Royal in Firepro D and include Nash as one of the 8 men in a group of all prowrestlers. If you let the computer sim the whole match I bet you Nash will be one of the last two guys in the match.
Someone at Spike/Human was a huge Nash mark back in the day. |

I liked it when he was Six (or whichever variant spelling), though that didn't really help him get over with me, either. |

The Angle stuff is goofy. It makes him look like a bad actor and not a good heel, IMO.
The Motor City Machine Guns and Triple X match, when it happens, has the potential to be ing awesome.

Jesus Christ this show has been horrible so far. Angle being a bastard is funny, but this is not the time to be doing "husband abuses wife and child" storylines.

Marvel makes TNA's figures - I doubt they'll go after TNA. Good God that was a horrid show, but at least it was full of unintentional comedy.

Hmm... so now Angle isn't TNA"s poster boy and is abusive to his wife? Perfect.

Yeah TNA wasn't that good tonight. I agree Angle being a dick to his wife and child is not in good taste... Even more so than usual. The Triple X vs Dutt and Lethal match needed a little more time.... say 5 more min. The Triple X vs the Machine Guns match has good potential, but I hate the way the confrontation between the two teams was not mentioned as they went to commercial and not when they came back. At least I can look forward to Matt Hardy on Smackdown tomorrow night.

TNA's plan to have Dustin being "Platinum", who instead of quoting movies like the Oscar-based Goldust, would reference platinum-selling songs, has gone out the window, as an indy wrestler has the "Platinum" name trademarked. Impact tonight had about 18 minutes of wrestling tonight, and sure didn't seem like it given how none of it meant anything, and everything on the show was rushed. They found time to have Roode tar and feather Young but couldn't squeeze in anything for the Steiners, or anything for the compelling Storm-Rhino feud that is one of the few things in the company rooted in reality.
