mega man 1 had the worst cover art hands down. damn middle aged man with a hang gun in a fruity costume. its a wonder the game became popular at all lol. the god of war games had the best cover art especially god of war 2.

Any of the early Mega Man games should fill the worst cover art slot.

the worst one ive seen lately is Raiden III's back cover art

i could do a better job than just slapping the screen shots in the back. its alot worst when youre physically looking at it.

my favorite is probably the cover art for Okami

I gotta say Saints Row has always had a special place in my heart as one of the best/worst covers in a game ever. It just feels like such a forced stereotypical 90's picture of young, teenage, gang culture that it reminds me of days of DARE....

That's why no one bought it. They saw the box and slowly backed away, knowing they weren't tuff e nuff.

Phalanx - SNES - Seriously, what the hell were they thinking? The guy on the cover is just as surprised as us that he's on it.

Suikoden - PSX - One of the best RPG's for the PSX. It's no wonder it didn't do as well as enthusiasts look back and wanted it to have done. Who are those people? They look NOTHING like the people in the game. It's like they were running out of time and just decided, "Hey I know, let's just run into a medievel cosplay softcore porn shooting and take all kinds of pictures before the clothes come off. I'm sure they won't mind if we share rights."

Strider - Sega Genesis - I can't even describe this better than 1up.com can, so I'll just quote them. "It's like the publishers shouted a description to the artist while they drove by really fast and he couldn't make out most of it with all the engine noises and the Doppler shift. "Sword guy! Other guys! ... domes... Vroom!..." "... What?" And then he just used some art he did 30 years ago for a sci-fi novel that never got published. They even got the sword wrong! You know - The sword that's actually part of the damn logo!

Friday the 13th NES - This wouldn't be too bad, if not for the fact that there were fluorescent rainbow colors in the background. I mean what's the point of all that? I guess you'd understand if you actually played Friday the 13th on NES, because about 15 minutes in, you're wondering if the makers of the game were on PCP when they made it. The cover gives you that shed of security you needed.

Wonder Boy III The Dragon's Trap - Sega Master System - It makes you wonder, when you play this game, why on the cover the monsters look terrified of Wonder Boy. (One might also wonder why one of the Bubble Bobble dragons is making a cameo) Until you figure it out - He's not wearing any pants. I'd be afraid too.

Fester's Quest - NES - The sad thing is, this was actually a decent platform game. But look at the cover art? I wonder if that spider on his face had some kind of paralysis poison, and half of Fester's face got paralyzed in the process. He's not grinning, he's crying for help. He was probably running toward the camera man for an antibiotic or something, which would explain the EXTREME close up. Why the hell is he wearing lipstick?

By Popular Demand! Mega Man 1 - NES - Wow, what a butt load of miscommunication this public relations meeting must have been. I'd imagine the people at Japanese had a really crappy translator that just said, "blue person, big gun powers, future, use you imaginations". Because that's the only explanation I could feasibly understand. Is he 4 feet tall wearing a big kids sweater? Or is it one of those powered sweater sleeves from Back to the Future that Marty's son wears. I don't even want to ask where the yellow came from or why Mega Man's a 43 year old man that looks like my high school assistant principal.

damn i forgot how gay that strider cover was lol. worse thing was back in the nes era and some in the snes era kids bought games based on covers alone so unless you had a cool friend with nintendo power or some other magazine you were sol if you got stuck with a crap game.

whoa, Fester must be looking at some good hentai! (but fester's quest was an overhead action game, not a platformer.)
