Exclamation Warning! Microsoft Cracking Down on Naughty Gamer Mottos - CheapyD Suspended from XBL

A heads-up to those XBL customers who might be pushing the limits with their gamertag mottos...

It appears Microsoft has decided to crack down on naughty gamertag mottos, as I was recently suspended for my "Konichiwa, bitches!" motto, which I've had since before the Xbox 360 launch. They should have banned me for spelling "konnichiwa" wrong.
The suspension seems to last a little over 24 hours.

Zewone also got banned recently for his motto, "called the šhit žoop".

I guess Microsoft has created some kind of script that will automatically check gamer mottos for all kinds of creative variations.

I think the ban is really unnecessary. Since Microsoft changed the mottos anyway, a simple warning email saying your next offence will result in a ban would have sufficed.

It is crazy that you guys got banned and yet earlier I played with a dude named fatass (he also had some numbers after his name). I would think that they would focus on tags more than mottos, but I guess that isn't the case.

I think "ass" is acceptable by MS.

My guess would be that scornful Halo 3 opponents are filing complaints.

That's not cool.

I agree a warning would have been better, but at least the ban isn't for very long.

they wouldn't let me type in "sucks" in my motto last week, or at least "sucks" combined with a certain over hyped msoft game.

So now, anyone who's been using stockpiles of 48-hour Live codes needs to start randomly inserting curse words into their tags and mottos to see what MS doesn't like.

...Just kidding. That would just be stupid.

I suspected that is what happened when your 'Konichiwa, bitches!' was missing .
Lame , but I guess they don't want the new breed to get the wrong impression of XBL .

It could be a combination of that and the fact that the gamer motto is very easy to access for users. Some complaints probably were filed against Cheapy, Zewone, and others and when Microsoft discovered a questionable gamer motto they likely figured they had enough reason to justify a short-term ban.

Nice.

MS: "The Xbox 360 is yours to customize and express yourself with!"

Reality: The dashboard is covered in ads and your motto is censored. You must pay to express yourself with an avatar.

The funny thing is that's not a photoshop except for adding the black bar over my e-mail address. The funnier thing is that's from the Microsoft Passport sight. Disgruntled web team employee?
