They are one of two "Siege Tank/Infestor" class units in the Protoss army (Colossus being the other, in regards to splash damage units) an excellent gas sink, and you can get a good amount of them with two bases. Your stalker count may suffer a bit, but I just add more zealots since HTs are mineral cheap.

I do use gas for forge upgrades and charge, as well as the occaisional immortal/observer, but I've had few issues with them, and my win rate has definitely jumped.

This is all currently being done with a rough 3-gate build that later uses extra minerals on more gateways/zealots. The general rule on unit building is based on what resource you need to spend:

Spend Minerals: Zealots/Stalkers
Spend Gas: Sentries/High Templar

I mostly use sentries for shields, and not force fields, so I usually only build 4 max, then all HT.

I still don't make tempar. I'd rather make a colossi in general against terran bio or zerg ground. I DO use them against zerg who show they're going air.. otherwise I still stick with colossi.

I tend to make DT over HT when I bother with em' since I generally am interested in archons not the base unit.

The HT is the single best protoss unit in PvZ and PvT. The high templar and zerg infestor are the most absurdly multi-purpose units in the game.

Also, Oktoberfest, Kainzero. Jangbi Vs Fantasy. Thoughts in spoiler tags, I guess ?

I've had bad luck using them in anything other than a niche role. I suppose i'll play around with them a bit more.

Just remember that Psi Storm damage doesn't stack, just the duration does.

I played a few games (and won) spamming that T key, but decided to look it up and started using Psi Storm more sparingly.

To clarify, say I cast 2 Psi storms over the same spot, but two seconds apart. (Psi Storm causes 10 damage per 0.5 seconds, or 80 over 4s.)

The total damage is not 160 Damage over 6 seconds, but 120 Damage over 6 seconds.

I understand how storm works, I just tend to be better at macro play than micro.

Warp prism harassment is so much fun, especially when their whole army is near my base

Honestly, I wasn't huge on the first rounds. There were a few neat moments, but nothing mindblowing. Fantasy trolled Jang's reavers hard.

The final game, though? Holy . You can chalk a bit of it up to Fantasy's macro just kinda... stopping... for a bit, but it remains a balling-as- comeback no matter what. Loved the shot of the Samsung fan crying when it finally became clear that Jangbi was definitely gonna win. Shame that not a single storm was thrown all game.

Also, Corsair and wraith fight to the death. yeah.

i missed this but

i ing hate fantasy. it has nothing to do with his skill but his stupid dumb looking face and his nasty looking long girly fingers. the most annoying part about his actual game is his stupid late gg timing.

with that said

all i can remember is that sick 5th game comeback, even though all the games had me on the edge of my seat.
and go jangbi, how you go from 20% winrate to winning osl is beyond me

With Gears 3, Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2, and Dead Rising 2: off the record I stopped playing SC2 yet again.

Now, with Batman, Dark Souls, Disgaea 4, and a Buy 2 get 1 free this week, I suspect it will be quite a bit longer before I'm SC2-ing it up...

Heart of the Swarm details from Blizzcon. Details!

Terran: Two new units, the Shredder and the Warhound. Warhound is basically a goliath. Shredder is a factory unit that must "siege up" to attack. With its weapons on, any enemy unit - land or air - that gets near takes splash damage, but it turns off if friendly units are at risk. Thors have been mothership-ized; bigger and stronger, but you can only have one. AA swapped for a siege mode thingy. Hellions can now transform into a slower, stronger, more durable unit. Reapers have no anti-building bombs, but regen health like protoss shields. BCs have a turbo button. Ghost cloak now timed rather than energy draining.

Zerg: Two new units, the Viper and Swarm Host. Viper's a flying spellcaster. Has a disruption web type spell that allows melee attacks to occur but blocks spells, a spell that pulls enemies towards, it, and the ability to turn a friendly unit into a detector. Swarm Host is a Lurker-Brood Lord. It spawns "locust" when burrowed. Overseer gone. Ultralisk has limited but fast movement while underground. Banelings can move while burrowed. Corruptor's "corruption" gone; now has a special attack against buildings that gives resources to the zerg player as it does damage. Hydra gets an upgrade to move faster off-creep.

Protoss: Three new units - Tempest, Oracle, and... uh... Replicant. Tempest was a Carrier-esque anti-ground unit that was cut from the alpha of WoL. Now has an AoE attack against air units and a laser against ground. Oracle's a stargate spellcaster that can put breakable forcefields over mineral lines, let the protoss see what his enemy's making/researching, and stas buildings. Replicants can transform into a selected non-massive enemy unit. Mothership and Carrier out. Nexus gains recall and can spawn a weak photon cannon type thing on a building.

A phoenix/oracle raid against a terran sporting warhounds:

Vipers and swarm hosts attacking marine/tank. Viper using "abduction" against an enemy raven:

Tempests against zerg air:

The swarm host's "broodlings":

Transformed hellions:

I... uh... I dunno. Hope ultras work well. Dunno how baneling burrow move will work. Was hoping the promised protoss harasser would be something that could actually kill bitches, not just fly around being a dick. Also, "viper" sounds like a terran unit. Also also, replicant WHAT?

Not happy about the removal of Mothership and Carrier. I don't care how much they aren't used in ladder, they should have seen a buff before outright removal.

Carriers didn't really see any patching, but they feel quite out of place in SC2. In Brood War, they could abuse terrain against goliaths, but they can't do that against vikings (which the terran will already be fielding if you went colossus, anyway). In Brood War, they were the only real air-to-ground option for protoss, but now we have void rays to do the same job faster and cheaper. Add in that interceptors drop like motherers, and carriers just don't have a place.

Iconic? Yeah. But god damn useless.

Motherships just shouldn't be so long as feedback, EMP, and neural parasite exist.

Of the races, I like the new zerg units the most. A disruption web type spell could be very powerful, and the swarm host seems like a good fit for the race. Shame about the viper's name, though. Seriously, that's a terran name. Tempest and recall aside, the protoss changes seem pretty what the for me. Was really hoping to see the immortal get splash damage and lowered movement speed to take a more reaver-like role, butwhatever.

Yes, they said it acts like a normal expansion pack where you need the original game to play, and it will also be priced as an expansion pack.

The new units look neat for the most part. Not sure about the Replicant and Oracle. I'm eager to try out the Tempest and Warhound. Swarm Host sound a little lame because the locust look to fire out really slow according to the video they showed, but I'll need to try it to get the best feel for it, as with all the other units of course. I play in silver leagues with my friends in 3s or 4s (I suck but that doesn't deter me because this game is so much fun, win or lose) so I'm very sad to see Carriers go and Thor being relegated to a one unit on the field type. I LOVED massing Thors and my friend loved massing carriers.
