Hi,
I sent this message to D but not sure if he'd get it or not so I thought I'd put it here and he'll look anyways.
I propose a huge promo for December 26-Jan 2. The thing is, who ever can find the best online deal through a reliable website for a really good new, and more than 20 dollar game gets a game of their choice.
There will be soome awesome deals coming out and people can post what they find. Whther or not it will win them the game is just how good it is, but it will help out all the cheap asses in finding great deals for great games and to get the forums working a little more. I mean who wouldn't want to do this really? You can look at the sweet games cheap and spend your holiday money you get(lol being politically correct), and at the same time have a chance at a great game if you find a good deal.
Well what do you think fellow cheapasses?

P.S. Buy by clicking the link to the store through the site so cheapy can also make money out of it and have no penalty for us, it may even be faster for some people. He gets commision for sales.

I think your idea sucks. Seriously.

We're all pretty motivated to find cheap-ass deals as it is, and judging what exactly the "best" deal would be entirely subjective. Some people would think finding a $20 MKDD would be a better deal than finding a $10 PDO.

And who's going to donate the game, you?

Well the idea is the money D would easilly make from it is that the game can easilly be provided. I am just saying the best overall deal so thats weighted by game and by price. Think of all the deals that come out after christmas, there are some pretty amazing deals that they put out. This owuld give you a heads up on everything and motivate some people to find a lot of deals. Probably about 1/3 we would have never found if people didn't actually search for it. A lot of deals come out during that time for a limited time. This would help out the site and get a lot more people active at looking at the forums for at least a week and get people to view the site more often.

Im not too sure of this.. Sure Cheepy would get more trafic but most the people here just leech.. Never post.. And most people dont buy online..

Again, what criteria determine's what's the best deal? For example, say I find Deus Ex: Invisible War for Xbox for only $19.99. Let's say NintendoFanGirl finds Mario Kart Double Dash for $19.99. Technically, they're both $50 games for only a Jackson, but you have huge camps of people who will say one game or the other sucks and that the other game is a better deal. There's no fair way to judge best overall deal.

People who come to CAG and even VGTalk are pretty hardcore deal finders who would be looking anyway, and I honestly don't think you'd really be accomplishing anything other than costing CheapyD money for his increased bandwidth due to the contest traffic, as well as the cost of shelling out a game for the winner. Hell, most of the traffic will be from people just looking for the deals, rather than the dealfinders.

Why would you propose a promo that offers a prize when you yourself have no intention of providing the prize? It might be one thing if CheapyD was rolling in cash, but he's not. Besides, when people post deals here, it's never a contest, and I don't think anyone wants it to be. Why not just post deals for the good feeling you get when people thank you for saving them money?

Well it was just a suggestion and i wanted to also see what you guys thought, I do think that some peole are underestimating the deals that are coming out because a lot of stores get rid of stock over that week. But, there are other reasons not to have it, I still say it wouldn't hurt, and yes D does make money out of these deals, if we click on a link through his site and buy somethin he gets some out of it, SO IF YOU BUY ONLINE GOTO THIS SITE AND CLICK ON THE STORE YOU WANT FIRST.

Yes, he does get something out of it, and I'm sure he's prbably LOSING money on this site, no matter how many links are clicked, this site has a TON of bandwidth and storage. Running a website is NOT free.

Not too disclose any private information...I will only say that CheapyD has a good enough deal on the server that he isn't lossing money in that regard.

Although if you take into account the hours he spends on this his profit may or may not be all that much. It's basically a part-time job he loves...

There will be more contests.
I certainly don't mind paying for the prizes out of my own pocket, its just that the current contest setup is pretty stale...I need to come up with something new. Perhaps I need a contest to come up with a contest.

I don't want to have a contest based upon the best deal submitted because I don't believe it accomplishes anything. People will post the deals, even with no prizes and I certainly don't want people arguing about which deal is best.

Thanks for the suggestion though.
