I've got to agree with Wombat on the PA game issue, for $20 per episode this game better be the best thing on XBLA by a long way, better than Rez HD, Puzzle Quest, SOTN and everything else.

I love Puzzle Quest but couldn't bring myself to spend $15 on it, to convince me to spend $20 it's going to have to be something special.

NOTHING is better than Rez HD! I love that game...so I agree with ya. PA better be good. We'll have to wait for reviews, like Cheapy hinted. From what I read, it has okay previews so far but I'm not seeing anything awesome about it so far. I'm hoping it's good cuz I'm a fan as well. I wish they had a boxed retail copy for $20.

Best thing of this CAGcast has to be Wombats announcing voice when he reads the back of War of the Monsters. Great CAGcast and whats that stuff above the egg and below the muffin in your Mega Muffin Cheapy?

I'm not all the way through the cast, but I figure I would comment on Wombat's wardrobe. If you want to get some really nice clothing at a pretty decent price you should try to go to the Express. They usually have sales and I have picked up a lot of their Producer pants and button down shirts, really nice looking clothes.

I just got to the CAG 2.0 stuff, and that sounds amazing, I can't wait, and I would have already paid my CAG 2.0 off in full.

I disagree with Wombat. I think downloadable games is the way to go. Granted currently there are issues such as the time it takes to download, the ability to easily transfer to new/different console, the size of hard drives, and the cost should be less reflecting the cheaper production cost but I think all these issues will be fixed soon and at that time I will be happy to get rid of physical media. I don't like switching disks and am out of space for storing stuff.

One of the great things about 360 achievements is that it lets other people see what you have played. With downloadable games others can see what you own I think that would also be a nice feature.

Wombat, the PS3 version of EchoChrome will have half the levels of the PSP version. The PSP version will be a full version of the game, just like the JPN version. We are getting the same game as the JPN store, just only via Digital Distribution...

I disagree that $20 is too much for an episodic game. Every argument seems to bin this to the Xbox though, but look at the PC and Steam. The HL2 episodes are $20. Also, regardless of the fact of whether it's episodic or not, shouldn't it be more determined by how much you get out of the game? Portal was a really short game, but it retails for $20. It might seem like an excessive amount when compared with Live content, but on the whole, it's a reasonable price (so long as it's a good game).

Like this week, Wombat gave Dark Sector a $15. Both of you sounded like you'd give COD4 and Vegas 2 $60. Perhaps Wii Fit gets a $60 instead of a $90, etc.
^ Also, I find this to be a very interesting idea.

CheapyD & Wombat:

the PSN Store isn't shut down for two weeks, so get your facts straight--the store is 100% functional, but it won't be getting any new content for the next two weeks.

Also, Cheapy, the PSN store isn't going to be closed down for two weeks, like you said. It just won't be updated. You can still go on and download demos, etc. from it.

CheapyD:

I agree with your concerns about SONY's PS3 "Home" service; however, shame on you for saying that the PS3 has "...basically no network to speak of...". Sure, it lacks a few match-making features, which can definitely be annoying; but this stuff will be fixed before the year is over.

In the meantime, SONY's "open" approach to their online program has allowed for several major benefits over its competitors:
1) more online players per game
2) user-created servers (eg. I can use my PS3 as a dedicated Warhawk server for my clan)
3) free content, such as a plethora of UT3 maps, XMB themes, background wallpapers, etc.
4) with the exception of poorly coded games (*cough* R6 Vegas 2 *cough*), lag-free online gaming even during peak hours
5) 6-way video chat
6) ability to attach high-res photos to messages
7) FREE online gaming
8) no file size limits on d/l content
9) online fighting games (eg. TEKKEN DR, MKII) that don't lag to the point of unplayability
...and I'm sure there's more I'm missing.

With a system like that, when some retailer has a sale on Dark Sector for $30 in a few weeks, CAGs could look it up in your ratings list, and see that Wombat thought it was worth $15. With that, they'd know to hold out for a little longer and pass on the sale.

It's something you guys seem to mention when talking about games anyways, but making it more of a focus and having it be searchable would really help the cash conscious of us out there make better decisions.

Thanks, love the CAGcast,
m13b
I like this idea too. I always thought if CAG did reviews, the "How much would you pay for it?" scale would work well. Adding user ratings and reviews along with links to metacritic or gamerankings to the CAG 2.0 game collection/trading database would be very helpful.

I second the endorsement for Express. In fact, I'm wearing a black button-up shirt with fancy stitching down the middle. Fun stuff. Just be sure it's Express for Men - unless you're into frilly skirts and ruched tops. Hey, I'm not one to judge. I do play with Simon, after all.

(Hehehe... <3)

I too find the 'price rating' system rather intriguing. It would certainly be unique.

Just want to shout out to Cheapy and Wombat for answering my question. But now that they have, does that mean I am internet famous and have to watch out for stalkers too?

Wombat... you should probably read the news post where Tycho announces the PA game. They are very aware that they've risen to the top by being brutally honest when a game fails, and that's keeping them honest.

Also, chalk me up under the "$20 isn't too much for a digitally-distributed game" column. I happen to trust digital distribution over physical copies for many reasons, including longer lifespan, less hassle with game-breaking DRM, and more.

Of course, this is coming from a guy who bought both BioShock and Audiosurf on Steam in one fell swoop, so that's just me

That's a *great* idea. Though maybe you could have a Cheapy/Wombat score and a CAG score, to compare?

Is there much difference?

Granted, there's nothing much coming out until GTA 4 anyway game wise.

(Which is April, not July Wombat!)

CAG 2.0 sounds intriguing, I'm looking forward to it.

Wombat uploading Cheapy's avatar on the gay forum is *awesome*.

No, but there's probably some decent PSN titles that people haven't taken the time to check out, so the next two weeks would probably be a good time to do so. Oh, and Warhawk is only $30 right now, too.

Fair enough.

Having it up for people to look at *is* better than having it shut down entirely, you're right.
