** New Website Update ** I am about 80% done programming in the new games database (the biggest and by far most complicated step in making the new site). Beta testers should receive their Emails around February 1st or so to try out the new services. Thanks!
Perfect timing, I'll actually have money to buy things by then

Goombot, do you know a good place to get text books for cheap? I`m looking for Assembly Language for Intel-Based Computers (5th Ed) by Kip Irvine and the cheapest I`ve found is $54.88 + $4 shipping to US only. Maybe you have some sources but if not can you buy it for me from http://cgi.ebay.com/Assembly-Languag...book_Education. Get back to me before you order, I need to go to my campus used book store and see what is going for there. Thanks man.

Median, definitely I know how it feels to be flat broke in January. February will be a welcome change of pace for me as well.

Jest, I'm not exactly sure but I can check around. The problem with books/textbooks is that even if I can find you a low price, they're often very heavy and therefore expensive to ship. But if you'd like I can still look.

So I just tell friends of mine who want XBL Gold to send you $33USD (on non-credit card accounts) and leave XBL in the message? Should they do anything on GFC?

You are the best Firestorm Thanks for telling your friends about me! I did get your friend's payment so I'll lock up a card for him. They don't need to do anything on GamesForCanada unless they want me to set up an account for them. No problem ^_^ Thanks!

Thanks guys. It's hard for me, but infinitely harder for her family. I can't imagine what they're going through :( We grew up across the street from each other and she was a really wonderful person. She had two kids too which makes it even harder. Definitely a major loss for losing her. I wish her family all the best. Thanks again for your sympathies guys

Heimdal, yes I'd be happy to order that for you Let me send you an invoice.

Quick preview of the new "Library" Mode for item views...

I just picked up some incredible software called "Delicious Library" made by Delicious Monster. It's a Mac only program that allows you to scan in your books/games/movies/etc. and have them show up in virtual bookshelves. I even bought a wireless bluetooth laser barcode scanner for this purpose (can scan thousands of items and have them wirelessly sent to my Mac...how cool is that?). After the items are in the system, you can sort them by date, name, system, type, value and a million other ways.

How is this useful? Well I'm glad you ask For those of you who can remember my first "Super Friday Sale" it wasn't exactly easy to see all the games since they were just endless photos of the games spines. This way, you can see all the titles and I can sort them by type (Brand New, Used/Complete, Disc Only, whatever...) and make them clear to view. Here is a quick preview of some test scans I did. Many of these are my own personal items, but many are ones I have available for sale as well. If you see anything you're interested, feel free to make an offer I'm in the process of updating the new GamesForCanada.com site as you know and this will be part of a new section (or two). Enjoy!

That's a pretty sweet-looking program.

I might just grab that to keep track of my games.

Isn't that what GOG or some site uses as well?

What is GOG? I'm not familiar with them. Fill me in ^_^ It is really nifty software. I paid quite a bit for it with the scanner but at least it'll be tax-deductable for my business (next year...doh!)

Thanks Frictor! It'll be better once I add my own code to it. At the moment you can't really do much with them except look at them. Once I add some coding and such then that's where the real magic will happen ^_^ I am telling you, I may be behind a month or two on schedule for the new site but I've been making a lot of progress. Here's what I did this week:

1) Created a library generator from scratch. This means I basically put together a form online that I can enter data into quickly that will communicate with my store's database. Like this, I can add new items in less than a minute whereas in the past it took almost 20+ minutes due to the web-form nature of Zen Cart and the other forms I was using. Big improvement!

2) I am creating a master inventory view for you guys where you can see at all times, exactly what games I have in stock, how many I have, etc. You can sort by price, system, qty and all sorts of things. On the side will be buttons to request as a Direct Request item, make a "Best Offer", buy from affiliate sites, etc. Really cool stuff!

3) I'm tweaking the shipping, gift certificate system, payment options and such on the actual GamesForCanada.com store. I want everything to be working smoothly once the new site opens at the end of February and want it as close to perfect once I open it for the Beta Testers

I'm also doing other things behind the scenes. Hope you guys like the new site once it launches!
