Bush Copies Kerry (Today Show Interview)

We all know about the dumb "We can't wind" statement by Bush and how the people are trying to cover it, and calling us dumb.

Today Matt asked about Iran and if we will do something about them and Bush is like...

"Well we tried for a decade to stop Suddam without war blah blah."

Then he didn't know how many UN things there was, I even know there was 17, he paused, someone prob said in his ear "17 DUMBFUCK 17!!!".

He then said something enteresting, he went "Military action is our last choose, not our first". Now I wouldn't care if he said that, but he said something slightly different that was almost exactly the same as Kerry did last week.

This isn't the first time Bush copied Kerry, after the pointless 9-11 review came out Bush didn't want to make the new guy in charge and Kerry did. Bush's poll ratings went down and Kerry's went up and then Bush changed his mind again and did what kerry wanted to do.

So let's see how many more copycat things happen, and how nany flip flops Bush / Cheney and kerry / Edwards do this year.

*A poll will be up later, if I don't throw my computer away.*

I know you're emotional when you posted this, but watch those spelling errors, as they really detract from whatever it is you are trying to say.
For example, incorrectly spelling Saddam (you had spelt it "Suddam") really detracts from any point you are trying to make.

I can't spell, I know I can't spell, I just don't care about my spelling, there are more important things to worry about than spelling.

Not if you are only represented by text, and you hope to speak seriously on serious issues.
It's even worse when key words of critical importance to what you are saying are spelt incorrectly.

I mean really, if you can't spell Saddam correctly, how much faith should anyone really put into what you have to say?

I was speaking of english as a language.

If you only speak a single language than of course you should have perfect grammar.

But if you speak 2 or more languages than mastering spelling and grammar of the languages that are less important to you becomes a lower priority.

That's bull. Proper grammar and spelling are critical to any languages, especially those which you are a non-native speaker of.
Laziness or ignorance is all that improper grammar and lax spelling suggests.

Says and individual who only speaks english.

FYI, grammar and spelling are hard.
There are a lot of words to learn.

And thanks to Microsoft, in most applications I can just speak into a microphone and have perfect spelling and grammar automatically written in most languages that use roman based characters.

But it does have an effect on how you are perceived, for better or for worse. Typos occur, and I think most people are understanding about that, but sentences like this
"We all know about the dumb "We can't wind" statement by Bush and how the people are trying to cover it, and calling us dumb. "
don't make a lot of sense off the bat, and if you have readers who spend their energy trying to translate what you're saying, your point loses a lot of its impact, and you do lose credibility.

w0w OMFG Bu$h/K$rry is a L0S3R!

Granted, that's sort of a silly example, but it serves to exaggerate the point.

David85: What other languages do you speak/write? Do you just not care about spelling/grammar/phraseology, or are you multilingual? If you're multilingual, that's cool, I wish schools started teaching languages earlier. Ich hatte viel Deutsch vergessen; ich kann nicht Deutsch mehr sprechen viel.

And while I see your point, I would argue it slightly: I would suggest focusing on the language you need to use in the community in which you are trying to be understood.

Especially since the $ only represents s.

Bu$h is funny (sort of)
K$rry makes no sense. Try K3rry.

Says and individual who only speaks english.
English is the only language I speak fluently. I speak French and Spanish as well.

FYI, grammar and spelling are hard.
Yes they are, but the constant misuse of them suggests ignorance.
Ignorance accepted on the basis of laziness suggests stupidity.

There are a lot of words to learn.
Which is why you use reference materials, especially when you are new to a language.

I had K3rry at first, but thought the $ applied more to him than GWB, since he actually has much more wealth than GWB and Cheney combined.
"We all know about the dumb "We can't wind" statement by Bush and how the people are trying to cover it, and calling us dumb." doesn't make much sense, but somehow my using 'K$rry' is more worthy of correction?

Anyway, actual response to the point?

Grammar and spelling may be hard, and everyone makes mistakes. I know I've made the 'your/you're' typo once or twice, and just now I typed 'type' instead of 'typo.' But when the mistakes overpower the point of the message, it's time to take a minute and think about what one is typing/saying.

One or two mistakes is forgivable but that one had more than one or two.

Spelling and grammar are important and hard. But that doesn't mean you should be able to get away with it. Spelling and grammar are auctually easier on the 'net because if you don't know it you can look it up (if you type something into Google for instance, it will give you the correct spelling) and don't have to worry about speed.

Back to the topic: so if two people have the same thoughts or opinions then one must be copying the other?

I am sick of all this "flip-flop" crap. It is ok to change your mind, especially if new facts come to light or the situation changes somehow.

If the president makes a decision in 2005, and then needs to change that decision in 2007 (when the world is a different place), should he be called a flip-flopper?

Yes because the Bush people have called Kerry a flip flop on issues more than 20 years ago, plus this is kind of important to belive we can win.

I can't spell, and it doesn't matter, if you understand what I'm saying what is the problem?

English is my only language, but I still have trouble with it, so too bad for you.

But can a thread be hijacked if the original poster is involved in the discussion which changes the topic and flow of the conversation?

It speaks poorly of your intelligence and automatically taints and draws into question that which you post.
