Hey everyone,

So I am new and I have a new system. Havent had time/money to make a decent system for a while and well now i have a little of both. So I spent about 600 bucks, which I think is fairly cheap considering the price to performance ratio. Dont get me wrong if i had 2000 to spend on a pc i would be think about that, I'd be to entranced by the quad sli sirens. I'll bet she gives great SLI... So anyways

AMD x2 64bit 6000+ ~100
xfx 750a Sli ~130(150 - 20 rebate)
xfx 9800 GT 512mb ~110 (130 - 20 rebate, Came with COD4 Free)
Newegg and tiger had the deal
4gb OCZ sli DDR800 ~60(90-30 rebate 5-4-4-15 rated,
and extra voltage rating warranty)
CM 690 case plus 2 120mm fans ~ 60
500gb WD HD ~70
20x DVDRW-DL ~25
ZeroTherm Heatsink ~30 (40-10 rebate)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

total cost out of pocket ~585
Minus rebate ~ 505

Total cost of built w/o HD, Burner, heatsink and case ~400
After rebate ~330

Power supply I had from old system, i bought a good one then so it was just enough for this system.

530W Hiper Modular PSU

So this is my first X2 and DDR2 built. Didnt know about some things, such as the asyncronous ratio between the cpu and mem. So i wanted to know what you guys thought. I got a dual boot at the moment. Vista 64 and XP 64, tried to get Unbuntu to install but it wont reconize any sata devices. Heres a shot of cpuz in vista.

I got my cpu up to 3.23 to get the lower divider to make the ram run near its rated speed. The memory in the 2nd pic show to change. I also have them running at 5-4-4-12 2t ~2.1v. Vista score my expeirence at a 5.6. I have gotten 5.7 upping the cpu to 3.3Ghz. The heatsink is a zerotherm not stock.

I can currently run crysis 1280x720 (having it output to my 42in HDTV) everything medium. I have to keep at medium becuase using tv out it defaults to that res. Plus 1080p just isnt playable with this setup. Yet i do have room to expand to sli when the 9800 gt goes even cheaper. I get about 30-50FPS using these setting. I am downloading warhead right now off steam hopfully its better optimized and i can push it at this resolution. Once i get a dvi to component cable i can change the resolution. The tv out has a 1080I limitation so i think when crysys opens its looks for the best "p" resolution. Damn this post ran long gonna kill it.

Hey, i like your build.

When I built my PC about a year & half ago I wish I would have forked over the extra cash for a SLI motherboard.

your pc is an example of why people should build their gaming PCs, rather than buy prebuilts

not bad. For a budget build I would have gone with 2 gig of ram max since it's the cheapest and easist thing to upgrade later and but the extra money into a better processor

well i could not pass up 30 dollar mail in rebate for 4gb (2x2gb) of ram to go from 6000 to 6400 was 50 extra bucks and i got my 6000 over clocked to 6400 speeds.

Nice build!

It's amazing to think I spend 600 building mine just a year ago and your parts are light years ahead.

Nice build. For the record, I paid $270 for 2x 1 GB of Corsair 800 MHz 4-4-4-12 DDR2 RAM in May of 2006. And $140 for an Athlon 64 3200+ single core. X_X

ouch, that's worse than my $200 Patriot 2 GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 RAM and $200 for a Core 2 Duo E6300 1.83 ghz later that same year
