GS TIV 11/08 before promos

PS2 - Shadow of the Colassus 6.75-9.45
PS2 - God of War II 9.00-12.60
PS2 - God of War 4.00-5.60

PS3 - Saints Row 2 25.00-35.00
PSP - God of Wars Chains of Olympus 10.75-15.05

Total cash spent above games 55.00(some picked up dirt cheap others from Goozex or various store promos)

113.05 credit

Traded 6 games for 2 games deal got Resistance 2, GOW 2, and Rock Band 2 and still have around 55.00 left in credit . I found it was a better deal than tossing them in with the 40% trade in deal(107.10 versus 125.14). The guy had to do each as a different transaction(last time I lost around 10 credit because the computer thought it was the "best deal" yea for GS)

Does anyone know if the Special Editions of the title is higher or the same price? I'm thinking about trading in my Gears CE and Halo 3 CE.

SW:BF2 Xbox - 950839

Everyone needs to be more careful since alot of these games from HV won't scan and need to be typed in by the GS employees. As I posted before, I got the TIV for PS2 instead of Xbox for one of my SW:BF2.

Worst is that refurb fees are taxable.

:( They tried to pin on referb fees on my stuff, even the disks that were in great shape that I got from Hollywood video. So I am just going to put the stuff that was only around a $.50 difference from Gamestop +40% and Amazon on Amazon, and bring all the stuff left from my 15 games to the gamestop at the mall the 22nd.

If you get taxed on refurb fees, you must also get tax added when you trade in games. Here in CA, we don't get taxed on refurb fees but we also don't get tax added to trade-in values. I would much prefer your situation since refurb fees are mostly avoidable.

Just picked up 58 games from 3 Hollywoods, only flipped about 10 so far but seems I got 2 copies of GTA San Adreas that are the 'bad' ones.
Got a few games that were still new, sealed but had used stickers, GOD 1 and 2, GTA SA, Hannah Montana.
Probably keep those.
Was going to report drop on Spongebob Atlantis but see it's been noted.

Thanks emg. I figured it was the store's fault. Only thing is that the store is quite a distance away, so it wouldn't even be worth it to go back. I'm still averaging a 3.33 ratio thus far, so I'll just chalk it up as collateral damage.

Speaking of collateral damage, check out this Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis I just bought at Hollywood:

Yea, that crack in the top left of the picture goes completely through the disc. All those scratches are incredibly deep too. I have no idea what they were thinking putting this game out for sale.

It almost looks like they tried to glue the crack back together.

I recently went to GameStop and traded in about 7 ps2 games and they ended up giving me an additional $11 dollars on top of all my trade in credit and I asked the manager why I was getting an additional $11 he said it was because it's for a promotion that hasn't been announced yet where you get X ammount of bonus automatically if you trade in 5 or more games.

Addition to list:

WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2008--$7.75-->$10.85 (after 30% bonus+10% Edge)

I spent about $55 and walked away with:

$197.05
-$2 Resurface
-$3 Resurface
-$15 Edge Sub.
-tax
=$175.75

Not bad. If I could have found more high ticket games I would have been happier, but I can't complain about tripling my money.

You mean like the one in the title of this thread?
Old 11-08-2008, 06:27 PM   #196
Definitely wasn't lucky as you guys. Got hit with like 5 refurb fees. The quality in Joliet, IL at HWV is piss-poor.
I paid $30 and got $67
Old 11-08-2008, 06:47 PM   #197
I paid $6 today in refurb fees on one trade in and believe me when I say I had it coming. The disks had a run in with the cloverfield monster.

I've had a few music CD's with cracks like that and they still played fine somehow!

How many of the same game can you sell to Gamestop before they ban you from trading or whatever?

They don't take multiple copies on the same trade in. So go to another store on another day, or the same store on another day with a different employee.
