If you could at least delete individual songs it wouldn't be quite as bad but it's also all or nothing.

2. Rent game from BBV/Gamefly/etc.
3. Pay 800 MS points for the "privilege" of ripping the songs off the disc.

The only real problem I have with this is the 800 points. Since it's not a download like the other track packs, there's nothing for MS to host, and therefore, nothing to really justify an expense. I get the $49.99 + $10.00 = full priced retail game, but that's a little ridiculous.

Of course the main objective is to get people to buy the game, but some of us have no interest in having a new disc and just want to add to our already huge library. I wouldn't even have a problem with Harmonix selling DLC codes for these songs on their website for $20. I just want the damn songs.
Full retail value of LEGO Rock Band + 800 non-discounted MS points still gives you a cheaper per-song price than a standard track pack!

Yeah, if every single one of them were songs you wanted that would be great.

For me there are only about 12 songs or so I would want.

Right, they said FU by working on a game for a year and ask to be paid for working on that game. To me, they deserve the money for Lego Rock Band.

I'm not saying they don't deserve the money. It's not like I'm arguing that we should be able to rent & rip the songs. My point was that they're ignoring a large audience who has little interest in playing as little toys, and just wants access to the songs. Harmonix could make a nice chunk of change without even creating any more product. If they're not comfortable with that idea, why have the option of exporting the songs at all?

Don't you play Rock Band for the songs? If that's the case then there could be My Little Ponies in the back ground dancing and singing and it shouldn't matter.

Personally, I think the Lego theme is alright. I also like that as well as playing what are actually some pretty great songs I can get some achievements and all that along the way.

We don't get Taylor Swift though..:-/ (Who I totally got to see at the Paramore concert I went to Sunday night...just sayin' lol.)

It's only going to get worse from here if Lego Rock Band sells well. I'll be doing my part to "not help." This jacked-up fee/every song or zero songs rule has firmly set this one in the bargain bin category for me. The tracklist still pretty much stinks anyway.

I'm going to buy Lego Rock Band for a few reasons, but I will be waiting on a better deal for it. No rush for me.

I picked this up for PS3 since my local store was out and when I went to redeem the code it says it is not available until 11/12 for PS3? WTF? I'm thinking that it has to be a download, at least on the PS3 since Thursday is the day they release DLC on that platform

Speaking of that, does anyone want to swap a 360 code for my PS3 code?

Well that's valid... I was mainly responding to the part where he said "I wouldn't even have a problem with Harmonix selling DLC codes for these songs on their website for $20. I just want the damn songs."

I understand why a lot of people would prefer to just pick and choose a few songs from the game as DLC. But the overblown sense of entitlement people have when they claim that "Harmonix is ing us" or whatever is just silly. Rock Band 2 has received an unprecedented amount of support from its developers, really unlike anything else in the history of video games, and they don't owe us a damn thing. Once we buy a base game that works, their obligation to us ends, and anything beyond that is gravy. And we've gotten a hell of a lot of gravy.

At first glance, I'm not digging LEGO Rockband...I gotta put more time into it though. The starting songs on the first 2 venues absolutely stink.

Also character customization is crap. Your character may have a yellow head and if you want a specific shirt that's attached to a brown body, your body will be brown ...I don't understand why you can't change skin color on all the body options. Also, lack of facial features kinda sucks. I mean, I get it, they are simplifying the game for the younger audience but come on!

Also, not sure if this is just me or not, but my game reads my DLC, and Rockband songs, but no Rockband 2 songs...is that normal? I haven't really kept up with the LEGO Rockband news.

All right, I think I figured out a way to get what I wanted for minimal cost. Upon receiving my $40 credit from Amazon early this morning for the "Spend $80..." promotion, I discovered that Amazon is selling Lego Rock Band for $43.99. Then, I looked on Goozex and found out the game is highly in demand (not surprisingly), and nets 900 points (aka $5 less than any other $60 game on there).

And apparently, Goozex has improved their trading system over the last month because they now have "instant matches" which you can agree to right away. There were 36 people requesting "full package", 9 requesting "disc + manual", and like 5 requesting "disc only".

Since I'll be using the code before I send it off, I agreed to send the game to a person requesting "disc + manual", said I'll send it within 3 days (since my Prime shipping will get the game here in 2), and I already have the points in my account. When all is said and done, I'll have the songs from Lego Rock Band plus another brand new game for about $9 out of pocket (plus $40 Amazon credit) and 800 MS points. To me, that's even better than renting it, since you're left with no value after returning the game.

Busta...I'm sure it's only a matter of time before the DL codes for LegoRB end up on ebay for $20. That's how I got my AC/DC pack...

Well yeah, I'm pretty sure you're right about that. I just think the untouched retail value of the game vs. the track packs is worth noting.

And I did go and search, it's amusing how many used copies are listed as "never played, export code not included" already.

I totally agree. I would hate for Harmonix to think we, the consumers, are unappreciated and cut all downloadable content. Think about the love for the other games in the music genre...
Guitar Hero - you will be lucky if you can export half the songs of a disc i.e. forcing you to keep the disc if your song wasn't a chosen one for export; they get maybe 3 songs a week if that
Lips - 2 songs a week; no exporting
Singstar - 6-7 songs... only 1-2 of them you will even heard of; have to disc swap in order to play i.e. no exporting

We are lucky to be able to transfer all the songs and get 5-7 songs a week as DLC; soon to be even more with the RBN. Why make such a stink out of taking all the songs... just skip over them... you can sort your list 101 ways... use the sort feature

We all like different music and I am actually happy for a good chunk of the list. Lego Rock Band was made for a PG version of Rock Band (hence, why most of your DLC and Rock Band 1/2 tracks didn't make it into the game i.e. Metallica).

On another note for those who are playing it via disc... if anyone wants to go for the Practice Makes Perfect achievement, hit me up.

Free Fallin', Crocodile Rock and Summer of '69 stink? Not in this lifetime. I will give you the rest though, they pretty much blow.

Okay...I've decided that I want South Park Studios to actually put the Cartman version of "poker face" up on Rock Band DLC. Anyone else? I'm going to start a damn campaign on twitter to let them know that we need that version...

There's honestly a ton of South Park stuff I'd love to see in there. People at parties always crack up when they're nonchalantly scrolling through the song list and they notice Timmy & The Lords of the Underworld!

Now You're A Man, Love Gravy, Montage, Chocolate Salty Balls, Poker Face, hell they could do a whole pack!

We already have a PG version of Rock Band, it's called Rock Band.
