Hi CAGs I've been doing some research/planning ahead for the holidays and wanted to get a box set of the Charmed series for my girlfriend. In a perfect world I'd be looking to get the Deluxe Edition at or near the price of the Regular Edition.

Normally I wouldn't care and just grab the regular edition, but I've been doing some research it sounds like the packing is pretty shoddy on it and there's often a bunch of glue and junk on the discs.

So if anyone knows a place that's got a reasonable price on the deluxe edition OR if anyone can confirm that the regular editions issues have been cleared up, your info would be much appreciated! OR if anyone has any experience with disc exchanges through Paramount Home Entertainment I'd appreciate hearing how your experience went.

Thanks all!

I just purchased the regular edition recently from eBay ($138). (Don't forget FatWallet or bing if you do eBay.) I didn't even know the existence of the deluxe. The first disc of the regular edition did have glue and wouldn't play in two players (Memorex and 360 HD-DVD drive). It finally worked in a third player (360) after I cleaned it for 10 minutes.

Now my girlfriend is on the 3rd disc and no more issues with playing yet, but I need to inspect all the discs now and try to get an exchange on the glued ones.

Good luck.

Here's another tip, there are TWO versions of the Deluxe Edition. When it first came out, it was a pretty enormous sized Book of Magic edition. Well, a couple months later, I spied a smaller version of the same boxed set (just a smaller book) at Fry's.

So this may come into play when finally deciding to buy, I don't know if sites will specify this...

I picked up the regular version for 124.99 on amazon a couple of months ago.

I was successful at getting the glue off of the 2 discs that had some on them.

Also,

"Customers with discs that won't play can contact 800-728-8564 and their discs will be replaced. This number works in Canada and the US."

Awesome, thanks for the info guys. I may check out my local Fry's to see if they've got the deluxe one at a decent price, if not I'll probably just pick it up from Amazon.

Edit: And by "pick it up" I mean the standard ed. and then swap any bad discs.
