No kidding! Coming into this season I was just hoping we'd improve enough to hold opponents to 20 points to give our offense an chance!

It's been impressive so far but that young secondary worries me. Our front line has been hiding some of the blemishes by getting so much pressure on opposing QB's. If we run into a team that can pass block they're going to be tested.

We got extremely lucky last night that Miami dropped the ball. If they go up 7-0 like they should have that ballgame might have gone differently.

Did I hear right last night that Notre Dame hasn't trailed in a game all season?

That's probably right. The only game I can think of that we might've fallen behind in was Purdue but it might just be that they tied us before we kicked the game winning FG.

This is one of the many reasons, The Ohio State University Marching Band is TBDBITL!!! (The football team this year is not too shabby either)

Video game themed half time show at The Horseshoe last night:

^As hard as it is for me to admit it, that was pretty cool.
Especially the Epona section in the Zelda part, it was excellent.

All of the writers were acting like the Heisman race was over and you might as well just give him the trophy now. They did an awesome job against a legit (but somewhat struggling as of late) Texas defense. I thought as soon as they played a Big 12 team with a real defense they would be exposed. So far they've proven me wrong.

Geno doesn't play on defense man. The Heisman is supposed to be an individual award. He means a lot to that team and unlike the other contenders, he's yet to slip up in a game. As it stands, it's his to lose.

I know but my point was that the stats aren't as impressive IMHO because he racked them up against a team that wasn't even trying to play defense. It's like calling someone a Heisman winner after running it up on Furman and Holy Cross. Now that he's done it against a stronger opponent it gives his stats more validity.

Well, I thought W.Viginia should jump K.State but I really didn't think Florida would move up as high as they did.
I guess the AP pollsters feel that LSU is better than I do.

His yardage and total tds are inflated from they Baylor game.

But what's most impressive is his completion percentage (81.4%- 166/204), having 24 TDs and 0 INTs and his QB rating (202.4).

Those are just crazy given how much he's thrown, and how many of the passes are down field rather than short screens etc.

It's the SEC bias. Just like the Notre Dame bias (yes, I'm a huge fan but admit the pollsters are idiots most years and rank us when we don't deserve it or haven't proven it).

Honestly I'm surprised that the pollsters are giving Kansas State this much credit. Typically the kids from the Little Apple get shit on in the polls.

Not a ton of ranked match ups this weekend, but still some big games and some potential trap games for ranked teams.

#3 SC @ #9 LSU
#17 Stanford @ #7 ND
#15 Texas @ #13 Oklahoma
#22 Texas A&M @ #23 Lousiana Tech
#5 WVU @ Texas Tech
#6 Kansas State @ Iowa State (they're ranked in Coach's poll)
#10 Oregon State @ BYU

If LSU beats South Carolina, Notre Dame beats Stanford, and everyone ranked above 7th besides SC wins, do you think LSU would leap ND in the polls?

I doubt it. Not going to jump a 1 loss team ahead of unbeaten ND in that case.

I'm hoping LSU wins though and SC beats Florida next week. Then all the SEC East teams have a loss, and can play spoiler for Alabama in the SEC title game. Would be nice to have a shot at a title game without an SEC team for once.

Oregon vs. WVU or K-State (if one of them win out) would be an exciting matchup.

I think at this point 'Bama is a shoe-in. Everyone else is fighting for that other spot. I would love for WVU to be the other team.

I wouldn't bet on a one loss SEC East team being left out of the championship game just because Oregon and a Big 12 team are undefeated.

Not that I agree with it, but still.

I don't see an 1 loss SEC team getting in over an unbeaten Oregon or Big 12 team. They'd definitely get in over those teams if those teams also had 1 loss.

But if they're unbeaten they'd be ahead of the SEC team in the human polls, and probably in the computer part of the BCS too as they'd all have pretty tough schedules. I mean 6 out of 10 Big 12 teams are ranked in the Coach's poll currently.

Just no way unbeaten major conference teams get left out in favor of 1 loss teams. With equal records the SEC champ definitely gets in most years (though Auburn did get left out in 2004). But the bias isn't such that they'd get in over unbeaten Pac 10/Big 12 champs.

As for Alabama being a shoo in, I wouldn't go that far. I think LSU, SC and Florida would all have a shot at taking them down in the season/SEC title game.

Oregon or WVU could have a chance in a title game as well just from being so explosive on offense. Especially Oregon since they have a solid defense to go with it for once.

I agree that there is no way a 1 loss SEC team jumps two undefeated big conferrence teams. However if they have all lost a game SEC wins out.

Another team worth paying attention to is ND. ND is the wild card this year. If all of the aforementioned teams go undefeated they might be able to jump Oregon and WVU.

I doubt it. They're schedule isn't as tough since Michigan and Michigan State are down, and Standford and USC a bit as well (particularly if both lose to Oregon and/or Oregon State).

But probably moot as I figure ND at least loses to Oklahoma, and may go down to Standford or USC as well.

They're Notre Dame. You'll see the polls shift in their favor if they keep it up. As far as their odds of going undefeated... well they're about as good as WVU or Oregon.
