Damn shame. Prometheus was a film that really felt like it had about a half hour worth of stuff pulled from it completely at random.

I think somebody on this board said there is no Director's Cut coming which is a shame. Maybe they were wrong.
Prometheus is definitely a part of it.

And watch Alien ASAP. You're missing out on a truly great film.

It's funny how bad AvP was since the book was pretty good. They made a lot of mistakes though in the rewrite. It wasn't on earth, the main character was a Japanese girl with martial arts training, and she and the predator she was stuck with bonded a lot. It focused mainly on her with little other humans and very little wayland yulani.

The blu ray extras disc has deleted scenes. Most of them would improve the flow of the movie a bit, but none of them are ground breaking or change anything major/add any new info. They would just flesh out some character motivation better etc.

Of course, maybe there's more stuff on the cutting room floor they could add back if he changes his mind.
Aren't you fancy with your blu ray

Caught Wreck-It Ralph 3D. This didn't quite hit the emotional jugular that I think they were aiming for, nor were there many funny moments, but I still got on board with Ralph's journey. It didn't suck.

There was a noticeable shift from the guy movie in the beginning, to when Ralph meets Venellope. Wished they kept the freshness of the first part throughout, but I suppose Disney girl power had to be factored in.

The 3D definitely helps pull you into the game worlds. I can't imagine watching this in plain 2D. I'll be adding this to my 3D blu-ray collection.

Contraband was ok. It was borderline over the top way too much though. But the intensity was very high, so it wasn't bad as an edge of your seat action flick.

I thought Contraband was mostly Schlock. I didnt hate it , but I didnt like it at all.
Funny thing I did enjoy : It had above average sound design. Which in itself is a strange thing to comment on. But it was so good it was noticeable.. Goes to show that good sound can take a mediocre shoot out and turn it into something interesting.

I know we're supposed to comment on movies that didnt suck , but I also saw Savages. Hands down , the worst movie of the year

I didn't think Savages was that bad. The only movies I didn't like this year were Amazing Spiderman, Lockout and Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter.

Savages was disappointing.

The ending was hilarious though.

Finally got around to watching The Man From Nowhere. Pretty great Korean revenge film. However, I though the silent protagonist was dead in cinema. I guess not. Still, I loved the art direction, music and shooting of the film.

Watched Face/Off and Total Recall (1990) this saturday on TNT. Both full of cheesy goodness.

I've gotta watch Face/Off sooner or later. Those commercials for it were so damn hilarious for me as a kid. Total Recall was just fun.

Rise of The Guardians.

Lots of creativity in it. The movie was good, but I feel like it could have been better.

Still liked it though, even though it had the (as expected) cheesy ending.

Just saw Prometheus as well. Never seen any of the Alien movies. Prometheus took a lot of it's plot from Ancient Aliens tv show but did it worse than the tv show. The movie had the trivial scenes take up too much time and not enough time on developing the good parts of the plot further. A few of the characters were not created well, particularly Charlie Holloway archeologist, just came off as not believable due to his personality conflicting with who he is supposed to be . All in all, it had good parts, but overall nothing that great, only good if it is the first part of a trilogy with 2 much better sequels.

Just as terrifying though I didn't think they really NEEDED a live giant, unless there's going to be further stories in the franchise right? The corpses would've been enough, especially since it's all about the facehuggers. I would've been fine with Robot David as the real villain of the story, but now I want to see more of Shaw's adventure throughout the stars.

Some stuff you mention could use a spoiler tag. Not sure what you're referring to when you say live giant?

I thought it was ok. There were some things left on the cutting room floor I'm sure, but the biggest question I have is why the engineers would've created us and then changed their mind and wanted to kill us. Hopefully their motivations become clearer in the next movie. I know there was a guy in the official Prometheus thread saying this film went against canon, but then cited the comics and AvP of all things.

Spoilers! But ya they definitely set it up for a sequel.

Glad I am not the only one who thought that movie was a totally piece of crap. At least in a few spots it was so bad it was funny.

I thought Abe Lincoln was far better than it had any right to be, but I didn't read the book and came in with real low expectations.

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter.

Surprisingly decent. Not something I'd buy or probably ever watch again, but was an enjoyable watch.

Face/Off is worse than I ever could have remembered. Just terrible. It's like a huge budget "Darkman" (in cheesiness factor) that thinks it's an epic. With guns.

Just terrible. Total Recall (old) is better than the new one by a mile.
