Any Mega Man Anniversary Collection comments?

I have read about a dozen online reviews of this game but they all pretty much say the same stuff. Some seem to be based on early copies of the game and complain about flickering, etc while others say these issues were fixed.

What is the true word on this game? Any glitches? Slowdown? Is this game worth picking up?

The last Mega Man game I played was MM4 on the NES back in the day. Playing through these games with the new "remix" mode sounds fun. It seems like they did a remix the right way... making it optional and leaving the gameplay intact while only changing the music and user interface.

I heard that the game is more harder because of the gamecube version's controller. I think A is to shoot and B is to jump. People are saying that the buttons should have been the same size because of all the confusion. People say that the ps2 version is better because it has better extras than the gamecube version.

Its great, I have to admit im baised since Im the megaman master, but they did a good job bringing the games to the newer consoles, you get to play all your old favorites megaman 1 to 6 from nes, megaman 7 for snes and megeman 8 for ps, they also threw in two unlockable games megaman power battles 1 and 2 which is a pretty unique fighting game and they can both be unlocked fairly easily. It has alot of other extras like songs, episodes from the tv show, etc, that are all unlocked through playing the game. Get it for ps2 if you can the extras are great. The only thing this game lacks is megaman and bass the snes game but its still amazing.

Mega Man AC is absolutely amazing! It's worth its weight in gold.

I agree with everyone else, this game is really great. If you haven't grown up with mega man, you will find these games MUCH harder than anything put out these days. In regards to your other question, there is still flickering in the PS2 version at least. All the places that slowed down on the NES seem to slow down here. Lazy, or done to preserve the nostalgia?

The in game jumping is a lot harder than I remember it being. After getting the collection for the PS/2, I found myself spending literally hours on the same screen at times trying to jump on the disappearing platforms and failing miserably even though I knew the correct sequence to jump.

Now keep in mind, I only played the originals during rentals, thus my memory may be very foggy on this, so it just may be that my skills have deteriorated over the years .

The specials are different not necessarily better. PS2 has the cartoon, GC has a documentary. The only real difference is the control scheme. But seriously, it is awesome for whatever you get it for so just get it. If you are a Megaman fan.

I'm gonna call lazy, because if they wanted to preserve nostalgie they would have kept the pause glitch in 1.

The select trick works in MM: AC. It just takes a little while to get used to it, as it takes a little longer to get out of pause screens and such. (BTW, I own the PS2 version. I don't know if the trick works on the GC version, but it should.)

I barely played the games back in the day, but I pikced up the PS2 version. The games are harder than many of todays, but they are fun too. I recommend them, especially for the $20 tag they seem to be going for now.

Also, the pause trick does work in one. It's the way I got past one of the bosses in 1.

It's good, but not perfect.

After playing Megaman games on the NES (and above) for more than 15 years, it's an absolute monster to try to adjust to the reversed controls on the Gamecube version. To me, some of the sound is a little off here and there. Small complaints to an otherwise good package.

There's still nothing like owning and playing the original cartridges, though.

I hope to pick this up soon. I have played and beaten MM 1,2, and 3 but I've never played any MM game since. Here's my opportunity Hopefully the old skills are still intact.

No you don't, the GCN version is broken. For some unknown reason, instead of KEEPING THE SAME GODDAMN CONTROLS THAT WERE IN THE ORIGINAL GAMES, they reversed jump and shoot, and they DIDN'T GIVE YOU THE OPTION TO CHANGE THIS. I think it could very well be the worst, dumbest, and irrational design choices ever made in any game, ever.

Original/PS2 controls:

Shoot Jump
(This was good because you could charge with the tip of your thumb, and still jump with the "ball" of your thumb. And you know, it's that way in every game).

GCN controls:
Jump Shoot
(It's jarring for anybody that's every played Megaman. For one thing, you can't just unlearn 13 years of engrained reflexes. For another, it just doesn't make sense in regards to hand movement. Look at MMNT, Viewtiful Joe, and Alien Hominid. They all use A for jump, so why couldn't this?)

UNFORGIVABLE! And what's worse, the development team (Capcom farmed it out, big mistake) never once answered fan's questions as to why they did this. I want to know WHY god damn it!

Ugh. Idiocy kills me inside.

According to eToys.com, the game's weight is 0.3 pounds (4.8 ounces).

Right now, gold trades at $421.50 per ounce.

Is the game really worth $2023.20?

Even if eToys is off by a factor of two, it still seems way too much for a game.

Or did you just mean the weight of the CD, without the instructions and case?

I got the ps2 version, I feel like a kid again. My eyes lit up with happiness when I played MM3, so many memories. I dont like the remix tracks, probably because I'm so used to the beeps and boops.
