I just finished my second playthrough of Mass Effect 2 on PS3 and I absolutely loved it. Easily one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had, with extremely fun gameplay, a great storyline, and developed characters, Bioware really has created an incredible universe. That being said, I was wondering what classes other CAGers out there chose how they did on the final mission and how they liked the class.

First Playthrough:

Soldier, Mostly paragon but some renegade.

I really enjoyed Soldier, being a big fan of shooters. The Assault Rifle is a great gun to have, and no other class can use it from the beginning of the game. I found that I used the Assault Rifle the most, and then the Sniper Rifle and Adrenaline Rush together a lot as well. Concussive Shot was a good power to have as well, and I found myself using both powers often.

Final Mission:
I had everyone loyal except Jack and Samara, (I talked about the wrong thing to Morinth, and I sided with Miranda when her and Jack were arguing, which made Jack unloyal.) Unfortunately you need to use one of the two to be loyal and form the biotic bubble and because of that it collapses towards the end and one of your teammates gets taken away by the Seekers. For me it happened to be Thane, which really pissed me off, because he was one of my favorite characters.

I then chose Samara to escort the Normandy crew out (I got their a bit late and a few people died, including KELLEH *south park lice voice*) even though I knew she was probably going to die because she wasn't loyal. But I really didn't mind, I wasn't a big fan of her and I was angry that Thane died. In the end Samara and Thane were the only two to die, and I chose to blow up the base rather than set off the EMP burst or whatever.

Second Playthrough:

Infiltrator, strictly Renegade

Like I said earlier, as a Soldier I used the Sniper Rifle often, and I enjoyed picking off heads, so I figured I'd give the Infiltrator a try. I really enjoyed this class, and I found using the Cloak and sniping enemies to be a lot of fun. As my bonus power I chose Warp Ammo, not sure why...I just did haha. I didn't really use AI Hacking too often, and usually went with Incinerator. I upgraded to the Widow Anti-Material Rifle, which was insanely strong, but only having 13 bullets was kind of a pain in the ass. Regardless, with Assassination Cloak and a headshot I could nearly "kill" Harbinger with one bullet. I really enjoyed this class, not as much as Soldier, but a close second.

Final Mission:
I had everyone loyal and got through the mission without anyone dying. I immediately went through the Omega 4 Relay, so all the crew members were saved. In the end I chose to set off the burst and keep the base.

About to start my 3rd playthrough as an Adept, but in the meantime I want to know what you guys played as!

The Garrus loyalty mission, along with releasing Grunt from his ‘tube’ were particularly highlights. One complaint I did have was that each of the missions seemed to follow the exact same pattern of ‘land on planet, sit through expositions moments that eventually lead to combat, rinse, repeat.’ It left me thinking “can’t we just talk about it?”. However, it seems that there is enough variety, it just so happened that the order I chose to do the loyalty missions meant that I did all of the combat orientated ones one after the other.

The conversation system is excellent. It’s one of the great game mechanics of all time. The way it revolutionised the flow of interactive cut scenes is hugely important in keeping the player involved within the experience. Heavy Rain used a very similar system, however the ambiguous descriptions of the choices it presented were often confusing, meaning you didn’t always feel in control. Mass Effect handles this extraordinarily well. The placement of your choices dictate whether or not they are going to be ‘good’, ‘bad’ or neutral, whilst the brief descriptions give and indication of which path the conversation is likely to take. You’re always one step ahead of the conversation, meaning there is never a break in the experience.

In contrast to the excellent conversation system is the menu system. I really feel like a trick was missed here (or probably just not enough time). Whilst it’s mostly in context with the overall style of the Mass Effect universe, it’s derivative, very ‘video gamey’, when it could have really have helped the experience.

I went with the soldier for pure DPS. I went for headshots exclusively with all weapons. Combine that with Heightened Adrenaline's +140% damage bonus is just OP.

Final Mission:
Everyone was loyal, everyone survived (includes crew). For the final battle, I took Miranda for the extra dialog with TIM and Tali since she was my love interest. Blew up base to piss off TIM even more.

@Brainberry, stay on topic man! lol

Final Mission:
I totally pawned the collectors and celebrated with Miranda inside my cabin.
