The latest issue of psm says that sony is considering creating the PS3 with an eyetoy already built in. They also say that the new eyetoy will have distance and face recognition so saved games will load based on who's face it recognizes.

Eye Toy is pretty cool.
I predict we will see some really innovative games released in the near future.
Sony is selling a ton of these things.

Too expensive, too error prone. Bottom line: no.

NEVER believe what the magazines predict. Especially when it comes to hardware. They have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. Most of the "predictions" i've read in "magazines" are completely baseless. Just trying to sell more magazines...

Only thing they are good for are previews and reviews.

Granted their info may often be wrong, but their job is to report on info they hear from the game industry even if it is a rumor or prediction.

To say that they have no idea what they are talking about is the most idiotic blanket statement I have heard about gaming mags. Not to mention you contradict yourself by saying they don't know what they are talking about, but are still good for reviews.

Re-read my post. I was attacking their "prediction" credibility not their p/review abilities. Making up a prediction takes no skill whatsoever. P/reviews, on the other hand, take some sort of critical thinking ability so of course I give them more credence. I like hearing other people's opinions of games regardless of whether or not I agree. I especially like the opinions of writers who try to sell me a "bridge to the moon" because I know I will be getting a VERY different perspective.

But back to the topic, did you hear PS3 will have lunar travel capabilities? No really! The PS3 is going to transform into a lunar bridge and you'll pay your toll fees via broadband.

The thing is they can have information for great sources that leads to their "predictions" but that info could change wildly between now and the time it releases for real. That's why I only listen for the OFFICIAL spec to come out.

I could see it comming with an eyetoy as a pack in device but doubtful they would go that far with it without a LOT ot testing.

I agree. Plus, the EyeToy is only a huge hit in Europe thus far. While I agree it is an interesting periph, I just cant see them putting it in the new system...

the EyeToy was apparently meant to replace the pre-existing picture paradise technology already well implemented in Japan.

The only U.S. games I know that use it are RPG maker 2 and monster rancher 3

the really nice thing about picture paradise is that not only can you upload your own picture into the game, you can use any image on your computer with just a slight amount of creativity. In fact, Porno is to monster rancher 3 on the PS/2 what Porno was to jet grind radio on the dreamcast --and the possibilities don't even end there :-)

The problems with the EyeToy being integrated into the machine is simply that you would have to have the machine on top your TV and you would be limited to the images in front of your TV to upload.

This is the part where I point out that the manual is quite clear about not stacking electronic devices when one of them it is your PS/2 ;-)

Although the only way to make a peripheral mainstream is to package with new systems, I don't see it integrated in the PS 3 system anytime soon for the above reason

If the EyeToy is going to be standard with the PS3, its very unlikely it will be built-in. In any case, they should take care of the basic stuff first: anti-aliasing, and four controller ports.

EYE TOY SUCKS REALLY BAD. Its just SO DUMB AND LAME. BUT I MUST ADMIT I LOOK DAM GOOD ON T.V. ITS ALSO GOOD TO SEE THAT THATS ONE OF THE GENERAL DIRECTIONS THAT GAMINGS HEADED. BUT WHAT ABOUT X-TOY

ANY THING THAT SONY DOES M$ CAN AFFORD TO DO IT BETTER
