Does it matter though? When it comes down to it we are being nickled and dimed to the fullest. The least they could have done with their grand scheme is humor us till the game actually released instead of being so blatant about having extra stuff that could have been free and on the disc, but instead opting to make everyone pay.

I guess I just have to wait and play the game and see if I feel like it was worth my $60 or not.

I'm basing my opinion off what I've heard directly from CliffyB and Rod Fergusson in interviews. They had 6 months to "polish, polish, polish." Bullshit.

The character skins may be in the Season Pass. I misread 7th number said. He was referring to weapon skins. Either way, kinda shitty.

Yeah to me it sounds like...

1. Seasons Pass = 4 DLC Packs featuring DLC for.... Campaign, MP Maps, or Horde, and will include MP Character Skins
2. Bundle Pack = Weapon Skins
or you can buy the weapon skins one by one if you dont want to buy the whole lot. But if you bought them one by one and ended up buying them all, it would cost more than what you would pay for the whole bundle option.

Im guessing that each of the 4 DLC packs from the season pass will add a few MP characters, there are a few missing. Skorge, RAAM, Mihn, Tai, even that new chick that they held back. (she is in campaign, but not in MP) They will have enough to spread around to each DLC pack. The MP character skins dont really bother me, since they will be included in something i was already going to buy anyway.

Of course you dont need to buy the season pass, and you could buy any of the 4 DLC packs you want, but again if you buy them one by one and eventually bought them all it would cost more than buying the season pass. But at least that is an option in case someone isnt really into MP, and just want the campaign DLC.

As for the weapon skins, i think its a little cheap to make us pay extra. But then again i wasnt a big fan of weapon skins to begin with. They felt a little too much like something you see in COD, not GOW. So i dont really care that much, though i really wanted to use the Deadly Cute color for my weapon if i was being a chick. Which i now would have to buy. But i think they give us enough cool skins that no one really has to buy the extras. Im not sure if i will buy them or not, guess it depends on the price, and what kind of skins they are. But ill probably be more than happy using the free skins i unlock, or get from DLC like the season pass or Infected Omen.

I'd actually love a dlc that prevents me from seeing any weapon skins. I might buy that one.

wow, so instead of spending the extra months putting more unlockables and content into the game, they spent that time making all kinds of weapon skins that should be things you can unlock in-game, instead you have to pay for them thru dlc.... that's extremely disappointing to me. i liked the beta because of the unlocks, and was hoping they would have really added so much more to that, but it looks like the beta was basically it, i also heard rod say that the metals in the beta were also pretty much it and there wont be many more in the full $60 game. and a lot of those paid for weapon skins sound awesome.... shame on them not being included with a $60 purchase. i'll buy this used now for as cheap as possible, to offset the inevitable fact that i'll most likely end up biting on a lot of dlc :(

Wow, that is a lot of entries in the Paid column. :( "Rainbow" sounds promising though.

I honestly can't believe some of what I'm reading. I so was expecting all these weapon skins and character skins to be things you could unlock by playing the game. That was one of my main draws for this game, as I enjoyed it a lot in Halo Reach how you would play and earn credits to buy new items. But they're withholding about 75 percent of the skins so they can charge for them, and also withholding single player content, and other content so they can steadily release it for months to come after the game's release, and have a steady flow of money coming in continuously. greedy motherers.

It's greedy, but I don't care about weapon skins or characters anyway.

In other news... the drama continues. I'm so glad I didn't try to buy this early. Paid unlock confirmation for nearly the entire weapon skin selection on TOP of losing your gold VG unlocks? Harsh. Nice to know those now not so lucky SOBs will keep their rank as anything that decreases my chances of being the first round leader in CTL is wonderful news.

Of course as many in the thread already pointed out, the confirmation doesn't explain how the guy responsible for uploading those vids had the Gold Gnasher unlocked (which is more or less the only one VGers care about) on Gridlock. The only question left is when the necessary update will be live because there is going to be one hell of a lulzfest after midnight on the 20th if MS screws this up.

That's odd. You'd think that the title 1 update would look back retroactively and cause the unlock anyways. The dude who said is a "super moderator"...does that mean he's an official Epic employee, or just a fan of the site who was given moderator rights?

The whole thing sounds fishy to me. Most current example I can think of is Castle Crashers, I beat the game a long ass time ago like many CAGs and the recent title update that unlocked avatar awards for certain milestones automatically unlocked for a lot of us as we had already met the criteria for the awards back in the day.

Joe Graf is a legitimate Epic employee. He's the guy you go to in order to report glitchers and cheaters in the game, and he'll either suspend or permanently ban their account from playing Gears of War.

He explained in later posts that the reason you can't unlock the other gold weapons is because the game literally checks for your Veteran Gear achievement once a day, the initial time you play in a 24 hour period. The issue, though, is that once it recognizes your achievement, that's it. It never checks for it again. Unfortunately, the gold weapons are only awarded via the title update. That's when it will check for Veteran Gear to officially unlock the weapons.

Essentially, the game lacks information to unlock the other gold weapons. The information will be given with the day one title update. The game will not retroactively unlock the weapons, as the game will not check for your Veteran Gear unlock once it recognizes that you have it the first time. So, even with the title update, it still won't go back to check for your Veteran Gear unlock. That's if you have the achievement and play the game before September 20th, as the game won't have the information needed to unlock the other gold skins.

The better question, which they haven't answered even though it's been asked, is what if you already have the requirements for all the gold weapons (I don't mean Veteran Gear here). It seems like the video posted yesterday, and subsequently taken down from Youtube, featured a player having the gold Gnasher. Clearly the weapon unlocked for him, but not the other weapons. Had he have had the gold Retro, or Lancer and Hammerburst data files, I wonder if they would have unlocked for him. The gold Sawed Off Shotgun is an achievement unlock, so it seems like if you have the files to legitimately unlock the gold weapons you should be fine.

Looks like Ice-T won't be getting the gold weapons, though.
