Haven't posted here in awhile, my anime-watching has been really slacking off lately. Once FMA: Brotherhood Part 3 is released, I'm probably going to start watching that, looking forward to that.

Just got Xam'd Part 1 in the mail, and it's indeed 1080p. I'll probably start in the next few weeks, I've been waiting on this one for awhile.

As for the Fall lineup, it looks like a lot of garbage (). Bakuman & Star Driver definitely looks interesting, but it looks like a lot of cat girls/harem/anime stereotypes based on what Crunchyroll picked up (which incidentally is neither of those). Very interesting to read what people think of the new shows, especially the ones Crunchyroll picked up, so post impressions if you have any, it'll help everyone (read: me) decide what's worth watching and what isn't.

And lastly, if there's one anime remake I can get behind, it's Berserk. . Yes.

I already talked about Panty and Stocking, Samurai Girls, and Otome Yokai Zakuro, so you can go back a page or two and read about those.

As for some of the other Fall shows that I've recently seen, here's what I thought:

The World God Only Knows: I had no idea what this was about before I started watching the first episode, so it was kind of surprising to learn that it's about a high school student who's the king of conquering girls in visual novels, and one day he accepts a contract that forces him to conquer real girls. He uses visual novel logic to win over the real girls, which provides for some pretty funny moments. Also, the show looks spectacular; not only is it vibrant, but it's beautifully animated. I'm interested in seeing how this show progresses.

Fortune Arterial: Fortune Arterial sounded liked typical, harem-based trash after I read its synopsis, however, the show seems to be alright. The characters are tolerable so far, and there seems to be a horror element woven into the story some how. Also, Fortune Arterial didn't have anything obnoxious or pandering in its first episode, so I think there's a chance it won't degrade into garbage, as long as the story is solid.

Oreimo: Oreimo seems to have the potential to be really good. It's about some guy, Kyou, and his sister, Kirino, who's secretly an otaku that's heavily invested in anime and visual novels. Kyou was the best part about the show; he's pretty funny, and he reminds me of Tomoya from Clannad. There were plenty of other jokes, like those between him and his sister, once he discovers her secret, but I didn't get a big laugh out of those. I'll continue watching it as long as ANN still streams it.

Squid Girl: Squid Girl is one of my favorite shows of the Fall. It's squiddly awesome; and one of the reasons I like it so damn squiddly much is because of its writing — it incorporates "squid" everywhere in the show, such as using squid as a verb, and the comedic situations are just brilliant. However, Squid Girl's writing is not the only reason it's an awesome gag comedy; the characters, animation, and pretty much everything else are top-notch, and the show hits all the right spots.

It looks good.I wouldn't say great or anything but "good" since it holds my attention and can be fun to watch :P.I've only seen maybe 6 episodes though and likely out of order but I like what I've seen. The only sort of problem I have, if you would call it a problem is that they never seem to leave the school grounds since they're always defending it so it in a way feels a bit repetitive killing monster of the week.Whats the deal with those dog ghost spirits though. Are they meant to be gay lol because the dub version sure makes them seem that way.

Edit:Edited to add a quote be more clear cut about what show I'm talking about

I suggest you look into Ghost Hunt, When They Cry, Shiki, Boogiepop Phantom, Ghost Hound, and Hell Girl. Ghost Hunt is my favorite out of all of those, and it's one of my favorite shows, period. When They Cry is fantastic and especially disturbing, Shiki is an awesome show about vampires that's currently airing (you can watch it on Funimation's website), and Boogiepop Phantom is something that's positively weird. I haven't seen much of Ghost Hound and Hell Girl yet, but I hear great things about them.

Also, you could probably consider Perfect Blue and Magnetic Rose as horror, and both of those are amazing.

I've read all but the most recent chapters of TWGOK, and it is awesome. It's one of those manga where you read a chapter and then immediately need to read the next few chapters. The comedy based on the main character's obsession with visual novels is hilarious and should appeal to a lot of otaku. He's not just kinda obsessed, he bases his view of reality on the idealized world of games, and this conflicts constantly with the real world. I think TWGOK is a fresh take on the high school romantic comedy genre.

I've been slacking on watching my anime collection recently, and been mainly watching stuff on Anime Network on Demand. I need to get back into the swing of things once I'm done with FF13.

Magnetic Rose was pretty good.Feels a little weird labeling certain anime as horror for me but I think if you had to give it a label it could fit into "horror".Stink Bomb also in Memories with Magnetic Rose was also pretty fun to watch and had a real nice rhythm to it although non horror related.

Although, I'm glad I picked it up. I'm happy I was able to support NISA with one of their first anime releases and the packaging is amazing.
As amazing as the packaging is, I hope they quit doing it- those long boxes really don't fit right on my DVD shelves, and I'd really hate to start passing on future releases becuase I don't have anywhere to put the box. (I've got 1 disc left of Toradora to go still.)

Or! They release so much that you're able to buy new shelves just for NISA releases.
Although, I don't think I know anything about the newer series they're releasing so I don't really have any plans on picking them up.

Caught up on Yankee-kun to Megane-chan (109 chapters, ongoing). For those who haven't heard of it, it's a high school life series where most of the characters are delinquents (yankee) trying to find their place in normal school life. Tons of humor, a few ass-kickings (although the main focus of this series is not about fighting... this is not Kenichi or some other classic shounen action series), and clever story and character development. Not as good as The World God Only Knows, but still an enjoyable read.

Also picked up the first two seasons of Inuyasha... I know, why? I saw that they were replaying the series on Adult Swim and felt like checking it out again. I found the cheap English dub only versions ($25 total for first two seasons) so I figured what the hell, I'll put them on when there is nothing else on tv. These sets don't even have English sub, so hearing impaired have to pay 3x for the better version with Jap/Eng dub and Eng sub.

Two episodes left in El Cazador de la Bruja, looking forward to the ending.

Inuyasha needs to be watched with subs and the original audio, the English voice actors are painful to listen to.

Rewatching Gundam Wing for the first time in around 10 years.Jee I really don't remember it being this bad growing up with all the stuff that well just looks gay like the five heroes all posing in the intro that its no wonder you hear about all these yaoi like stuff for this series.Relena has to be the stupidest character ever made. After watching some of the original Gundam I thought it would be somewhat comparable on how good it was and despite the Wing having around 25 years on the original this seems more out of date but hopefully it will get better as it goes along.

Is Claymore any good? Not really into anime, but not opposed either, just looking for a good show and it's on netflix instant.

Finished El Cazador de la Bruja and enjoyed it. Good story (nothing terribly original, but still good), fun character interaction, good English dub, and the music fit well with the setting. Had a bit of a Trigun feeling to it... Trigun mixed wih another anime I can't place. I'm glad they wrapped things up in the second to last episode and then devoted the entire final episode to what happens to the characters in the future; most series just wrap up the main conflict and then end abruptly. Will probably start My Bride is a Mermaid next.

Started reading Kimi no Iru Machi (from the Suzuka dev). So far so good.
