I didn't get the helmet yet either. But it doesn't seem like they are going to charge me until gold expires for me, in October so im guessing I will get it then.

Thank you so much! I guess that that's what I will do then, as well. I just don't want to be charged the $30 and then another $50 since it's set to auto renewal, you know? I just thought that it was too good of a deal to pass up!

The way it reads it looks like you have to leave auto-renew on until your account would expire. Then you'll be charged $30 and get another year. The day that happens you'd then turn off auto-renew.

I canceled auto-renew right away and there was no longer any indication that I had done the $30 deal on my account info.

This is probably the best deal I've ever seen Microsoft give on ANYTHING.... EVER.

Totally got it. Although it doesn't give you the 12 months right away, it sets your account to "automatic renewal: ON" and shows that whenever your LIVE service runs out next, it will renew with 40% off.

Still a freaking incredible deal by M$.

After reading this it seems like you get it for 29.99 only if you agree to leave auto-renew on then get charged the current rate. In other words pay 29.99 now and have to pay 59.99 in a year. Am I the only one interpreting it this way?

Does this apply to US only? What about Canadians?

Yup that is the deal. It clearly has double asteriks and states you will not be charged until the current subscription runs out. When it runs out, you are set to auto-renewal and will pay the year after at full price. Still, two years for $90 isn't bad.

I have enough Live to last until next October and have no need to re-up at the moment.

no this helmet is for your Avatar not for the game and its probably the only way to get it for "free" if you didn't get it at Comic-Con or PAX

There's nothing saying you can't disable the auto-renew after the $30 rate is applied and before the $60 fee hits.

They're just making sure you don't think it will auto renew at $30 again, just one year, then back to normal.

Yes the free weekend is actually quite long this time, lasting 4 days. If I can play it for free anyway, I will wait until after that period to subscribe.

Is this what I should be seeing on my account page?



Edit: With the phrasing of that I'm not sure if it means it'll renew it at 40% off at the current $49.99 or when it renews in January when by then it'll be 40% off of $59.99. Sorry if this has been answered already.

Double Edit: Even if that is the case $36 for another year of Gold isn't too bad. So I guess it doesn't really matter to me.
