Which is exactly the subject line that just appeared in my email from barackobama.com and OFA. (Organizing for America) It was to my wife who donatd to Obama back in the early days of the campaign.

Here's the exact quote of the email
/quote
I'm Yohannes -- OFA's political director. Everyone calls me "Yo."
I'm writing to ask you for money. Here's why: There are dozens of close races I'm watching in about 40 states.

The dynamics of each are shifting by the day. We just learned that one right-wing group is pumping $261,000 into just one Ohio congressional race to defeat the Democrat in office. At the same time, the Republican running for Senate in Delaware said something wacky during a nationally televised debate.

That's why we need to go all in in lots of places, so all of the close ones go our way. Can you donate $5 to make it possible?
Your donations power everything we do.

/end quote

I always thought politicians and the government were supposed to give us money (stimulus checks or just tax breaks), not the other way around.
And several of our House candidates are surging.
A bunch of these races will be super tight on election night

You didn't get the memo.

Only the rich are entitled to large tax breaks and grandiose business subsidies.

It is true that in cutting up the cake a few crumbs fall off the table, but I hardly think that pittance is worth further mention.

And this is what you should put in a reply email:

No the government shouldnt be giving us money. The government should be providing a viable and stable economy for its citizens to be able to earn enough money for themselves.

Don't all politicians ask for money? Or is it just democrats? I ask this because you put it in the vs. thread. There's some sort of debate you want to start with this.

Homeless people ask me all the time for money. Should I start making vs. threads about it or just when I get spam email for someone claiming to be in the Obama re-election campaign...

EDIT -- The Director of the FBI is also looking for all of us. I got it in my email inbox so it must be true.

That is such a bizarrely worded email, that I have a hard time believing it's real. I'm not saying it's not, just that it's not the way I'd expect to get an email from someone wanting campaign contributions. It reads like someone in their 50s or 60s trying to be all hip and cool with those youngsters these days on their world wide interweb machines.

The vagueness in the line about Christine O'Donnell made me laugh though. Why does he have to be so ambiguous? I'm surprised he can even name the state and political party, and didn't just say, "At the same time, a politician somewhere said something wacky during a recent point in time."

Me personally, I never took the vs section as a place strictly made to argue and fight. I assumed it was a section to try and contain all the politically and personal flame bait material in one section so it doesnt spread allover the forums.

Just because someone posts something here doesnt mean you have to argue about it.

You started this thread and your OP had nothing debateable in it either. You didnt do much but make a very short and closed ended rant with a lot of assumptions in it based on nothing disguised as sarcasm.

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/...d.php?t=245248

So, really whats the difference between your post or the other ones just like it in the vs section and his? Or are you just looking for a excuse to complain about something?

I just heard Obama and other dems are giving an extra $250 to social security recipients as a one time gift. This is of course, in response to the upcoming November elections.

Stay Classy Republicans Democrats

If they've been on social security for very long they've already got back more than they paid in for SS during their working years...

It's like tax rebates.... why when people get back more than they paid in for taxes is it called a rebate?

heck, I've heard it referred to as $250 stimulus checks so call it whatever you like. the bottom line is that it is unwarranted given the "one time only" caveat and shady since the elections are just a few weeks away.

"I always thought politicians and the government were supposed to give us money (stimulus checks or just tax breaks), not the other way around."

Sometimes you gotta spend money to make money.

These stimulus checks are ed anyway. Like if you are technically classified as poor and made under $10,000 a year you can have one, but if you made $10,001 you can't. They should have a flat percentage (you get back a percentage based on how much you made, not which bracket you fall into). Not just for stimulus checks but for taxes as a whole. Brackets are bullshit.

I'm pretty sure that's nearly all politicians these days. Obama is really an exception in being able to connect to young people.

Unfortunately... being able to connect to young people is pretty close to the bottom of my list of important qualifications to be president. Campaigning sits pretty close to the same position on said list.

I was being sarcastic about the expecting govt to give me money part. I've never needed (thank god) welfare, food stamps of any kind. Even with 2 kids and my wife not working I still make too much.

I'm just more sort of annoyed at the audacit of the canidate and party in charge -still- asking for my help. (You get these emails at least once a month)
