you're not getting it. you can't sell one thing on the internet and send something else. That's not kosher - for lack of a better word. If newegg refused to take these games in return, you would probably win a dispute filed with your credit card company.

HOWEVER, it's not bait and switch, which is a specific tactic that includes advertising one item and not having that item in stock and oh ... can i interest you in this one? it's almost the same...

That's exactly what they're doing. They're advertising the regular version and sending you the GH version. If you don't see the cosmetic differences as qualifying as "different" then I'll just point you back to the point I made about the 3D glasses.

I wasn't really speaking in regards to their return policy. All I can say in that regards is that when I tried to apply for a RMA I was told that that particular game was not eligible for a refund for the unopened game they sent me.

So because a retailer has a picture of the non-GH version of a game they're supposed to ONLY send the non-GH version?

Have fun dealing with NewEgg's return process and missing out on playing a good game because you're anal retentive about the packaging it's in.

If you wanna avoid the hassle of shipping back to NewEgg(and probably getting laughed at behind your back by their customer service people) there's a whole master trade list of people offering cases in the 'right color' to match these copies of this game. It's a lot easier and probably will be a lot quicker than dealing with a return/exchange.

I can't personally verify that these numbers are accurate, as I don't have any version of the game currently, but according to Amazon the UPCs for the various GOTY editions are as follows:

GOTY (PS3) 788687501088
GOTY GH (PS3) 788687501064
GOTY (360) 788687200929
GOTY PH (360) 883929066957

I can tell you right now that the GOTY PH for 360 is 788687200929. Amazon may have them switched or something.

Or I might have been reading the listing wrong and not noticed that I was looking at GH and PH instead of GOTY GH and GOTY PH.

Argggh!!!!

I'm not saying what they're doing is right.

What I'm saying IS THAT IT ISNT MOTHERFUCKING BAIT AND SWITCH.

GEORGE IS GETTING UPSET!

_______________

If Newegg is ing anyone and you want to file a dispute with your credit card company, i took a screen grab when I ordered it. If you send them a photo side by side with what you got, you might have a valid argument. Might.

I'm on the side of "if it's PH, it's not the same ing game so take all your bullshit and shove it". So i'm waiting for newegg to get back to me with an RMA (though I havent opened it) I don't want to deal with trading it here.

I've been following this thing for a while.

Con, you shouldn't bother too much with some people...they don't "get it" and they never will. I learned early in life to not bother with such individuals....I simply leave them to their own devices. No amount of common sense/logic will ever penetrate their thought processes...it is a futile effort...so why waste your time man? These types cannot grasp the simplicity of this situation...would they be capable of understanding greater measures? No...they wouldn't. Hence...they do not matter. Use your time and energy for more productive things, I say.

Just a bit of advice from someone who respects you.

I hear ya smiley. Thanks for the reminder.

I just have trouble understanding how people can actually be so dense. But it really isn't worth my effort.

Anyway, if anyone wants to file a dispute, PM me for the screen grab.

I didn't even notice I got the greatest hits version of the game until reading this thread. I don't care in the slightest.

It has been fun going through the game again. Forth time for me. I'll be playing a fifth time as I picked up the GOTY PC version on Steam for $10 the other day as well.

Clearly you're after the first definition. I don't believe I ever said you were wrong in that regard. What I was originally trying to get when I replied to IAmThe is that some seem to subscribe to the notion that "bait and switch" can be interpreted exactly one way. You seem to think that anyone who doesn't interpret its meaning by the first definition, and only by that definition, is just wrong.

I'm personally more interested in the second definition. I see Newegg as gaining favor (over other resellers, in this case) for a specific item and then not meeting expectations that are set by their own website.

PS3 UPC vs. Serial Number

GOTY PH (360) 883929066957
Correction on your UPCs:
Greatest Hits (non-3D) (PS3) 788687501064
Game of the Year (PS3) 788687501088
*Greatest Hits & Game of the Year (PS3) 788687501088

Notice, the GOTY and GH-GOTY are the same UPC number. However, the Serial Numbers (on the spine of the cases) are different:

Game of the Year (PS3) BLUS 30515
Greatest Hits & Game of the Year (PS3) BLUS 30515GH

For those who don't want GH versions, it might be useful in the future to call and verify the Serial Number before ordering.

Just a quick question for those that own both original version and Game of the Year version for PS3, once you installed the game with Game of the Year edition, can you still use original version to play and able to get the maps working? Just curious that is all since I have seen some posts about Fallout 3.

Just received my Batman: AA GOTY for PS3, and yes it was a GH. But I'm cool with it because it came in a clear case, instead of the red acrylic case, and the GH banner is actually not that bad...it dissipates in collor from black, dark red, to red at the end.

At least Sony made an effort to not make these GH's so butt-ugly. And I hated GH games...but this version is actually fine, aesthetically speaking.

Especially for $17.99.

Let's say you purchase underwear...nobody's going to see them under your trousers, they serve their purpose in holding your junk and the occasional rouge dingle-berry, but let's say you shit stain them after sharting, do you still prance around in them? No, because you know they're shit stained and besides you already cut them up into small pieces with your Swiss army knife and flushed the evidence while in the public restroom.
