Slightly off topic. But I really need to know this, and someone should have the answer.

When you pay someone with paypal, and you use the gift option (without having funds in your paypal account), you will get hit with a fee. (since it sends the money from your credit/debit card)

For me that's like 0.35€ + 3.9%


But, if you already have the money in your account (paying from PP balance), using the gift option will result in significantly smaller fees.

Does anyone have any idea how much those fees are? (from your experience)

I don't get any fee's when I use the gift option.

It might be worthwhile to load my account with a bigger sum of money then use that.
I'd save 0.35€ on every transaction.

Although it's weird, since I did get a fee when I tried it a few weeks ago



Maybe it's the 1% cross border fee.
I could live with that.

It could be a cross border fee. I haven't tried sending payment as gift internationally, but good to know that there will be a fee when I do.
