Don't see the point if they aren't including online multiplayer. I wouldn't want to play just a prettied up version of the game I already own.

I'll be watching progress on this closely. Must be pretty well along already if it's due out this November.

Nov 2011? Just around the same time Diablo 3 is supposed to launch? Hmmm...I smell success (for the game that has demon hunters and shamans)

I love how the people in charge say one thing then do another.

what Microsoft could do is HD versions of original xbox games, no one played "insert xbox game here"

...yeah, I'm sure Halo on the 360 is going to fail to sell when up against a PC-only release of a series that most younger kiddies haven't even played before.

I don't see how anyone can complain of a remake either way when God of War 1+2 got HD face lifts and were out just a few years ago. Halo 1 would have already been out 10 years, and looking at Halo 1 sales a lot of people skipped Halo 1 and went right to Halo 2/Halo 3.

GOW collection also did just over two million, I'd imagine this doing 7+ million easily.

People skipped Halo 1? http://www.bungie.net/News/content.a...pnews&cid=7139

Bungie says 5 million copies were sold as of November 2005. IDK where you pulled that incorrect fact out of your hat...

The only people who skipped Halo 1 were who bought an xbox when Halo 2 came out. Halo 1 was the only worthwhile xbox game for half of the console's life.

Should they even bother with any other weapons besides the pistol? The only thing I think worth re-releasing is the Halo 2 multiplayer. Halo 1 has already been re-released several times now.

Not with XBL though.

I'll cry if the re-release Halo 2. It'll either be tears of joy if they do absolutely nothing with it but make it compatible with the 360 version of Live or tears of hatred and anger if they do anything besides MAYBE a graphical update.

There are plenty of people out there that went from PS2 to 360 and missed out on the original Xbox and Halo.

More people bought Halo 2 then Halo 1, so yes people skipped Halo 1. Care to link me to sales figures that shows Halo 1 outsold Halo 2?

I didn't pull that correct fact out of my hat, but thanks for being a douche.

I know it's the 10 year anniversary and all that, but why not make it Halo 1 + 2 + all multiplayer maps? It's not like people can play it on XBL anymore. I also have to question the move since they're releasing Gears of War 3 just 2 months prior. Releasing Gears and Halo in the same year is not a smart move in my opinion.

But see it's not a NEW Halo game. It's just a remake. I wouldn't be surprised if it pulled ODST's numbers.

How is that skipping and not "building upon"? Without the huge success of Halo and the marketing push, how does Halo 2 even exist?

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6456214/...science-games/
(article states Halo 2 sells $125M on Day 1)
"Tuesday's sales figures would put "Halo 2" on track to easily beat out the first version of "Halo." That game debuted in November of 2001 and ranked eighth with sales of $149 million through September 2004, according to NPD."

A lot of people jump on, but that kind of excitement only happens because the first game did so well and basically sold the system for the beginning of it's lifespan.

I have some friends who are into the whole Halo Universe thing that are very excited for this. $60 seems steep, but let's see what the final product actually turns out to be like. They could add in a lot of fan service and extras, but who knows....we're finally out of the Bungie safety net.

More people bought the sequel to a hugely popular franchise? No way!

I never said Halo 1 outsold Halo 2. In fact, that link I posted from Bungie even says Halo 2 sold more than Halo 1. OF COURSE IT SOLD MORE.

You wrote your post in a manner that seemed to imply Halo 1 was simply passed over. The game sold 5-6 million copies, probably more when you add in digital copies and the PC version.

They really better not try to add anything new.

Leave out that equipment and armor ability bulls**t, don't mess with the core gameplay. I don't play halo for the fancy gimmicks or killstreaks. They better not add killstreaks either.

It all felt so classic and pure.

Just remake the old game, make it up to HD standards, add a new level or two, rework the old MP maps and add a few, and you're done.

Halo 1 was fantastic with MP on PC. I'd love that experience on the consoles.
