Two Guys SpaceVenture - by the creators of Space Quest

CAGiversary!
I am making this post because the project needs a boost. If you enjoy good humor and puzzle solving, then think about helping fund this project. I was a fan of all the "Quest" games in the 80's. SQ had a great flavor. Ponder this and please support the series.

NP.......my requirement of good humor seems to be lax..............but all eyelashes and llamas may submit applications.

A link to the Kickstarter project may be good:

It's a tiny miracle that this kickstarter is even happening. Until a short while ago, Mark Crowe and Scott Murphy hadn't talked to each other for nearly 20 years, after they had a falling out after SQ4. Here's a video of their reunion:

They've also put up a demo to show what the game will be like, and improving it as the Kickstarter goes on. You can download and play it for free here (works best on Google Chrome):

While they don't have the rights to do a "Space Quest" game, they are doing a sci-fi comedy themed adventure game, very much in the mold of the old SQ games. They also manage to finagle getting GOG to give away one of their SQ packs (1-3 or 4-6) to people who pledge $50 or more.

The past few days, They've being doing live commentaries on playthoughs of the original SQ games. Ken and Roberta Williams (founders of Sierra) even showed up in the chatroom during the SQ3 commentary to show their support. You can view the archived videos of these events here:

Then nobody pays any money and they don't get funded. So as a backer, you can't lose.

The SQ6 commentary just ended. An interesting bit that came up was that Josh Mandel designed the SQ6 demo to have completely separate story and puzzles from the full game, so that those who played it weren't "spoiled" when they played the full game. I never played the SQ6 demo, so that's something I'll need to check out. You can get it here:

You can view all the previous commentaries here, as well as get a transcript of SQ3 the commentary with Ken and Roberta Williams chat texts:

They're going to be doing an interview with voice actress Ellen McLain (GLaDOS) at 3:00PM EDT:

Scott Murphy and Mark Crowe are doing an AMA on Reddit tomorrow (6/7) at 12pm EDT:

There's now a fan made single room adventure game called "Pledge Quest" that's promoting the Two Guys Kickstarter. You can download it for Windows and Linux:

Walkthrough here in case you get stuck:

It's pretty impressive, since they manage to pound out the game in about a week and a half:

Finally decided to pledge after the Tex Murphy Kickstarter vouched for them.

I completed the first three Space Quest games a few years ago, but kept dying at the beginning of the 4th installment and eventually gave up. Maybe I'll give it another shot some day.

Did you play the CD/voice version of SQ4? because that one had speed issues with some puzzles on newer computers. There's patches out there now for it.

Their Kickstarter broke $400K last night, which means another phase of their prototype should be released soon. They're only about $80K away from their goal now.

The Ken Williams interview can be seen/heard here:

They also had an interview with voice actor John Patrick Lowrie (Team Fortress 2, Half-Life 2, Left 4 Dead, etc.) yesterday. You can see that interview here:

I put money down as soon as that kickstarter opened, very excited. Look as it as preordering the game, thats basically what you're doing at the $15 level.

Spaceventure has a new prototype out:

They had an interview with Gary Owens (narrator on SQ4 and SQ6) earlier today:

After getting a lot of pledges in the last few days, their kickstarter is at over $460K and is extremely close at hitting its goal before it ends in the next day and a half.:
