Is there any disadvantage to buying a 4GB model and dropping a 250GB hard drive into it? Other than the outside finish?

not really. most actually prefer the matte finish on the 4gb, as it keeps fingerprints off of it. still comes with a wireless controller, too IIRC.

Go with the matte finish, the 250 GB console scratches if you just put a controller on top of it. I envy my sons 4GB console with the 250 GB HDD. I wish I could sell my 250 GB console and get the 4GB w/250 GB HDD and not be out anything. When you look at the storage devices it shows the 4GB & 250 GB separately so you actually get more storage, although not much.

Hdd will fill up fast. 4gb is definitely not enough.
I have a 120 and its just about full. So many great arcade games and dlc on live.

Looks like I am going to go get my PM from Best Buy from Cysis if it drops further I will just do a rebuy/return

Yes, but some things do require a hard drive. Halo Reach co-op for example (though they might be fixing that eventually). Also, I'm not sure if original xbox games will work without a hard drive. See the reviews on Amazon for some discussion on this.

got my neighbourhood BB to PM Target's Batman: Arkham Asylum GOTY... and a week later they drop the price....

The Gearfest promo is hit or miss with Best Buy. I checked if they were participating over the weekend, which they were. The site showed the Reach controller for $39.99 and the Quick Charge kit for $19.99. That was about 4 a.m. Sunday. Went into my normal BB around 5 p.m. The controller was 59.99 and the quick kit was 29.99. Had a guy check into it, site showed the same. I told him about Gearfest, he looked online and saw it. Even checked the other retailers, saw the discounted prices. Wouldn't PM. Ended up pulling out my phone and checked their app. Showed the 39.99/19.99 prices. Got those PM'd.
I really hate BB anymore...

I know this is for the new ad but Gearfest has been going on for almost a week now.

So is Amazon likely to PM the $50 GC with the 4GB deal? No tax is always nice, and I know the site tends to PM at least the BR/DVD sale prices week after week, so I'm hopeful that that will extend to the GC deal.

...Also, I've got a plan worked out that should net me the system and a 250GB HD for $50 out of pocket, but only through Amazon.

Anyone wanna explain to me how bonus points and being a rz gamers club work? So when you get a 360 you'll get 200 points + extra for tax for being a regular member then you'll get a gift card for 5$ since you spent it on gaming hardware since you spent at least $150 because of the gamers club. Then there's also the free 50$ gift card?

Cool, I was thinking it had a wired contoller. A wireless controller makes this a better deal after all.

You were probably just thinking about the old packages. That was a distinguishing factor of the old Pro vs Arcade (or whatever they used to call the arcade model).

Once small difference is the 4GB model doesnt have the wired headset that the 250GB has.

If Amazon were on top of things they would price match this deal in advance so that I could order it now and get it by Sunday. For $13 of tax I'm just going to pick it up on Sunday at BB.

MIGHT be in for Crysis, but I'd hope Amazon price matches so I can use gift cards from there on it.
