Just played the demo twice now. Definitely miles better than Sonic 4! There are still times when Sonic doesn't want to go all the way up hills, but I did find that holding right when you are running forward or in a ball seems to help with the broken spin dash. Also, I agree with the earlier poster that the backgrounds are distracting! They are beautiful to look at, but without a few playthoughs, it's easy to lose track of Sonic on the screen.

I do realize this is an EARLY demo though, so if they make some slight tweaks to the game, this will be the closest we get to the old retro experience of past Sonic games!

You nailed it, congrads. There certainly isn't a history of Sonic games disappointing time and time again, so I was wondering why I felt the way I did. But now I don't need to wonder anymore. Thank you.

I was worried Sega would this game up but after the demo, I can safely say this may just be the best sonic game yet.

I dunno.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me at least half a dozen times since Sonic Adventure 2 (and even that wasn't great) came out on the Dreamcast, shame on me.

The early demo was fun, I liked it more than Sonic 4. Defiantly has that Sonic speed. But like other people posted the backgrounds and foregrounds make it hard to see Sonic and enemies. While running I was always worried about slamming strait into an enemy. Hopefully they make them pop a little more.

I liked it more than Sonic 4, but noticed some jerkiness in the camera that didn't sit well with me. I'll put it this way, I was hoping the demo would take me from "hhmmm, this might be good" on my maybe-buy list, to "hhhmmm, I hope it's better than the demo, wait for reviews" probably-won't buy list.

Queue sad panda face. :(

Seemed fun, but the framerate just ruins it for me. Sonic needs to be 60 fps.

Random bump because the game is only a month away!

So you haven't played a Sonic game since before Sonic Adventure, huh?

Sonic Unleashed was very smooth, which was impressive with how fast everything was.

With daytime Sonic anyways.

Guess there is no PS3 thread for this, but w/e. Comes out same day as Uncharted and got an 8.5 from IGN already. Soon as I saw the screens for this, I knew we had a winner.

Whoops, forgot I ran this thread. Suffice it to say, the demo's pretty awesome and the game itself is a safe buy. I'm probably reviewing it for Co-Optimus, but Sega didn't send us the game early. Nuts.

Updated the first post with a bunch of stuff. IGN has the first review, and it's very encouraging.

Thanks for sharing the pics, LinkinPrime! I have to wonder about the unlocking requirements though. I haven't read mention of a Hard mode anywhere else, not even in the WIP Achievement Guide.

EDIT:

Ah, someone explained it for me:
Quote:
Just select Boss/Rival like normal and it gives you 3 options. Normal, Hard, and Select Music. Just pick Hard an go for it. Freaking Egg Dragoon was a pain in the ass on hard.
