with a level 20 Shadownight.

A pretty fun game, but It seemed to be over pretty fast. I wish the save screen would provide information on playing time.

I thought the ending was a bit anti-climactic too.

Your thoughts?

Completely unrelated, but I just finished Medal of Honor Rising Sun on Sunday, and could not believe how lame the ending was... The game went way too fast as well, I did not think this game was a very good follow up to Frontline.

On the positive side, I bought it for $22 on half.com in February, and sold it today for the same price. So it was like a long term & cheap rental.

We beat it a couple weeks ago, playing Co-op with a Cleric [me] and a....barbarian? [my wife]. I was somewhat disappointed in the Cleric, maybe I'm just not leveled up enough, but I didn't get a whole lot of use out of his skills. I think we were level 18 or so. We're debating starting over with new character types, or continuing on the next difficulty with our current characters. Probably restart and try another character.
I also would like to see playing time, but maybe they learned their lesson from the Baldur's Gate games [when I saw I beat it DA2 in ~12 hours, I was glad I didn't buy it.]
I liked some aspects of CoN: for instance, the skill tree and the skill levels. It was also, of course a very pretty game. In general a fun dungeon hack. I would have liked, however, for CoN to have the multiple-spell quickselect that DA2 had, rather than just 2 hotbutton spells.

Sure, the story is short, but that's not the point of the game. The point is co-op, either offline or online. Online you find yourself playing over one level atleast ten times in say five days (on average). If you have a problem with this, then I guess you wouldn't like it. Unless you rent it.

I didn't pay attention to the story at all, I just went full out for co-op. Online Norrath = Crack In Digital Form.

It's all about Diablo-eque addiction of power-leveling/gaming. Logging on everyday and hoping for that next Stone of Godly Speed... =P

Well, I returned the game to Blockbuster, but I am interested in playing online co-op.
Gotta find a cheap ass deal...

I've been using my free rental coupons from purchasing GC & PS2 at GameCrazy to rent this over and over. I'm so addicted, but can't bring myself to drop $45. 4 players is super-fun; I'd say more fun than Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles.

i loved the game. i played it online and it's just mediocre as it does seem to have it's problems online (glitches, etc). all in all, it's a pretty good game.

Thought I'd ressurect an older topic instead of making a new one.

I'm thinking about purchasing this game at Game Rush today because It looks kinda like hack & slash, Baulder's gate type game. My question to you who already have it is: Is there an online subscription fee or is it freeplay online? I've gathered there is an offline game to play from this thread so I'll probably get it anyway but the 'Everquest' subtitle makes my think Sony's going to suck my wallet for this one. I've tried looking on the Sony site but still can't find out. Any help?

Its free.
The offline game is identical to the online game (minus the other players, of course).
This game is pretty much identical to BG, so if you liked that game, you will like this too.

Awesome. I just finished Baulder's Gate (the first one) and started BGII. I'd never played a game like this before and now I'm hooked. Champions looks like it's right up my alley, now with online play it's a definate purchase, THANKS!

I rented this game and I want too big on it. Probably because it was near release and hardly anyone was online.

I played through Dark Alliance (don't want to mistake it with the superior PC title ) with my brother in law, and loved it. We hungrily got D&D Heroes but were quickly bored by the bland levels and repeptitive enemies. Then Champions of Norrath came, and we gave up on it after the first few levels of monotony and glitches. Then Dark Alliance 2 finally came, and lo, it was short and boring.

We loved the first Dark Alliance, but can't seem to enjoy any other games of its type. Is it because they're getting worse or Dark Alliance is the same and just happened to be the first one we played?

^-----------omg, I have the exact same impression you do. I liked the first Baldur's Gate for PS2 also, then when I got CoN, I was utterly bored w/ it. I've had it for about 3 weeks and played less than 5 hours on it, it's so bland and boring IMO. I bought it mainly for the online play and lo and behold........ONLY <15 OR LESS PLAYERS ON AT ANY GIVEN TIME!! wtf...and it's only been out for what...less than 5 months? Laaaaaaaaaaaaame. I guess you're right, Hunter_D, first impression was good, but now it's just more of the same!

There's something to be said for your first time. I kinda feel the same way about BGII. I'm still enjoying it but the freshness feeling is lost now. The enjoyable parts of the game was to see the next new environment and monster, now they all start to fell the same after a while. It's much more fun to play w/ my son and go exploring a new dungeon together.

As for Champions, in addition to the lack of game play time record, they're a little sparse with the healing potions and save points compared to BG. I do enjoy the text voiceovers, though. Nintendo should take notes and start voicing over some of the dialog in their games.
