I just spent time reading the Steam forums about VtMB and patches and Win7 64-bit compatibility and tigers and bears and pandas on a crackergoodgosh! I wonder if it's worth the hassle to even buy the game anymore since I have a fairly new system.

Thoughts?

I'm so excited for this weekend deal. This game hasn't been this low on steam since 2008 and only this cheap one other time on D2D. I'm so glad I passed on it during the steam sale.

Patching the game is literally a drag-and-drop process.

$4.99

I think this is like the 3rd time ever it's been on sale.
Easily worth every penny.
Great game.

I'm hearing a lot of positive thoughts on Vampire, but nobody is telling me why. Can someone give me a reason why people are creaming themselves so much about an 80 metacritic game? I hate to sound so cynical, but as someone who'd never heard of this game until recently, I'm just a tad confused.

Okay, thanks for the heads-up. One of the patches detailed a patching method in such verbose terms that it threw me. As long as I don't have to manually disable half my RAM (where a patch takes care of 64-bit and larger RAM compatibility on the game end) then I'll probably bite, er, pick it up, heh.

I guess its time for me to buy this game now.. I played it at my friends house from time to time.

Me, too. I have read glowing reviews of this for years but I'm not sure what the combat or core game is really like.

I just started playing it (I got it over the summer sale), so far it seems like the story/dialog are very excellent. Voice acting is also great, which helps a lot. It creates this environment of uneasiness, while still being a little cartoony. It's also one of the only games that does vampire mechanics/morality well.

If you like good stories, especially good stories with vampires in them, you'll love it.

However, so far the fighting has been a bit sloppy, since they're trying to mix vampire hand to hand combat with human guns, in the Half Life 2 engine. Doesn't bother me much, since that clearly isn't the focus.
Old 07-28-2011, 07:05 PM   #214
Oh HELLS yes. I was hoping that maybe, maybe we'd see a price drop to $10 or even $7.50 around halloween. Was NOT expecting to see this as a weekend deal in the middle of the summer.
Old 07-28-2011, 07:06 PM   #215
Opened Steam and was very surprised to see Vampire was on sale, for $5 no less. The game always had my interest, so might as well bite.

I think Bloodlines has been overhyped a bit. I enjoyed it, but can't remember too much specifically. I also don't recall it being broken, as some say, without the fan patches. I haven't replayed it recently, but I think the replayability factor is high, because of all the vampire clan choices (i.e. character class), so I will pick it up to see what I missed the first time around.

YES! Finally! God damn, I've been waiting so long for this game to go for a decent price. So glad I didn't pick this up during the summer sale despite wanting to. I thought to myself then that it would be so typical that after finally picking it up for a low discount it would suddenly appear later in the year as a better deal and I would be kicking myself. Bought!

My only complaint so far with VtM:B is that the melee combat doesn't feel good, especially since it insists on taking me out to third person view any time I enter combat. Loving the atmosphere though.
