Was that the one where you could still play PS2 games, but emulated? Not too sure how well emulation was, but if you really really want PS2 playback in your PS3, I guess you could go for it. Not too sure how well refurb's are, or if you will or won't get YLOD.

Do not create threads to ask a question. Only post specific video game deals!

But if I had to say yay or nay, I'd say HELL NO. The MSRP for a NEW PS3 just received a drop to $249.99 at the one convention. So for $50 more you get a NEW system with at least a one year warranty out of the box.

Guys, stop buying used or refurbished PS3's and 360's. Save however long you need to and buy them new. You want them under warranty and you want to know everything that's been done to the system. Don't waste your money on used or refurb systems.

Agreed. That's what I was thinking. Appreciate the feedback.

I could use an extra PS3 for the bedroom, but for an extra $50 you get a brand new one, bigger hard drive, matte finish and the Slim won't sound like a jet engine after 30 minutes of being powered on.

I'm sure I'm not alone in the "I don't trust refurbs" group. You'd have to be almost giving one away for me to buy it. Course I bought my PS3 day 1 for $600 and would argue that I got the best deal for one.

Spend the extra $50 and get yourself a new PS3. I have 3 PS3s. My 40GB runs perfect but does get a bit noisy when it heats up and the fan kicks in high gear. I have 2 MGS4 backwards compatible 80GB PS3s, both work perfectly and neither makes any noise, definitely not like the 40GB. I love having the ability to play my PS2 games on them, although some games do suffer some issues. If I were in the market for a new PS3, I would jump on the new slim at $250.

Note: I have 2 Xbox360 Jasper chipsets and they are very quiet and run much cooler than the PS3s. I also have on pre-order the Gears of War console bundle. But I love both systems, PS3 and Xbox360, and I love the flexibility to play any game. I have 2 Wiis too!

Now, go out and buy yourself a new PS3, nothing like a new baby in the house...

Agreed (with those saying to just buy a new one); I was thinking about getting a 2nd one (and this, the Refurb 80gb, would be the 2nd fiddle); I like the "new baby in the house" analogy.

Worst case you could get a squaretrade warranty for cheap and be covered if something went wrong, but no, I would definitely rather buy a new one. Especially at an online retailer where I wouldn't pay taxes on it (newegg for me, amazon for most others)

These aren't the backwards compatible ones so spend the extra $50 and go new. Also best Buy ps3 refurbs are refurbed by Sony if that makes a difference.

I think the picture they're showing is actually the 20gb model. Perhaps I'm mistaken but I think that's the only one that didn't have chrome by the power/eject buttons. Not that any of this matters, just an observation lol

You're quite welcome. Sorry if I initially came off as a jerk.

You mean like the 60gb I bought for $60 about 3-4 months ago? It works but I think I only used it long enough to test it out with a disc of each format(PS1, PS2, PS3, CD, DVD, Blu-Ray). It's been opened and the person who opened it didn't put the screw back in to keep the plate that says Playstation 3 on it in place. But for $60 I wasn't gonna complain too much.

as everyone said, for $50 more you get a brand new one which comes with twice the storage (this is very useful especially if you have a large collection) and more importantly, peace of mind.

I got mine years ago so TVM is what you will. Considering BR players were $1k at the time I consider it a great deal and I don't regret the purchase for a minute. Getting worried mine will die sooner than later though...
