And it is a video game deal. Ever try playing a game on PS3 or laptop without a hard drive? Not gonna work well for you.

how does the install speed compared to that of a 5400RPM, can anyone vouch while have installed a higher RPG on the PS3?

I remember reading that the PS3 will not utilize anything over 5400 RPM so 7200 is a waste.

There is a bunch of internet useless crap on the subject. If u want the facts, IGN did a video showing the conversion and load time differences. It's wasn't much. Some games only saved a second or two.

eDIT: the above post is a good read also. Install is vastly improved in some cases, but if your worried about load, not a big deal. If you play a game that lasts 10 hours and loads 60 times, you'll save 2 minutes of your life

I'm not saying they are an end all, but the video will answer the questions, and your link was basically a text version of their time results

I agree with their reviews about 95% of the time. Everyone has their own taste in games, u just have to find the site that fits urs. I bought a few games based on xplay reviews. I don't watch xplay anymore.

let's not forget the $10 off coupon for orders over $50, a great way to get a 500G HDD for under $50 shipped

I would prefer more space over the higher RPM for PS3 personally. You can get a 5400 RPM drive with at least 640gb for that price.

dude i have an SSD in my ps3 and it cuts down the load times throughout, some games more than others, but especially in Deus Ex HR. They say it can take 20-30 sec to load areas or even saved games and it takes me like 5 seconds. Plus an SSD makes the XMB menu respond a bit quicker, which is neat.

How often do you remove the ssd to run trash collection.

Picked one of these up earlier today. Keep in mind this drive also features a 16MB cache and a 3 year warranty. Seems like a great deal to me.

Guys you can get a 1.5TB drive for around this price. I just got this Hitachi 1.5TB for $54.99 a little while back. Just a heads-up. But OP's deal is not a bad deal in the least though.

The OP's deal is for a laptop size drive that would also fit inside a PS3. A 3.5" drive wouldn't fit into it.
