Marginal, was there an email that followed after you placed an order. I just ordered the two walking dead comp 1 and 2. I just checked order Status and says "In progress via standard shippin." I have not received an order shipped email which I am concerned about.

Still haven't received a cancellation email in my products. I don't think I've ever had an order cancelled through them, although having them fulfill the order with the right products is a different story...
Can't wait to get used copies of Everybody Poops in place of my Sandman Slipcase and Death Note collections. |

I just received an shipping confirmation email and was excited until I saw it was just a couple of CDs I had ordered the other day. Boo.
I've also noticed that GoHastings likes to pile all of their shipping emails on me at 1AM EST now. |

Yep, just got notices for a bunch (Death Note, Walking Dead, Ouran High School, Freakangels). As usual with Gohastings, there were a couple I didn't receive "Shipped" emails for (Scott Pilgrim, Bone) even though they're also showing as "Shipped."
Damn... looks like everything went through, except Calvin and Hobbes which is still in progress. Awesome! |

I'm kinda bummed I missed both the Scott Pilgrim box set and Calvin and Hobbes (I assume its the box set paperback collection?) when I was browsing/ordering last night. Those would have been awesome to pick up.
Regardless, I just got an email that said my entire order of 6 books shipped. All of them had the same tracking number except one, and that one had no tracking number. Strange that seemingly only two people got cancellation emails that specifically mentioned the price mistake. And yes, Hastings sends out most of their email batches for ads and shipping confirmations during the night. Probably saves them on bandwidth. A ton of other retailers do this too. |

I haven't received an email yet, hoping I get a shipped email notice.
Also to the people whose orders got canceled, did you guys order a butt load or order close to when they pulled the plug? |

But selling on eBay is a hassle, trying to sell privately or trade on various forums is often just as bad as eBay if not worse, etc. And the secondary market on graphic novels is particularly fickle with Amazon Marketplace sellers distorting the realistic pricing schemes when sellers use ridiculous algorithms. So to me its not worth it just to try and flip books from Hastings as a regular thing. Though with the 2 For $10 one could have easily made quite a large profit, but you would have to put in a lot for that initial investment. And I'd imagine Hastings might have caught those orders, versus people who were just clearly buying books for themselves (but of course that's just speculation). I re-sell a certain number of books I get from Hastings, but that's often because I've ended up acquiring a duplicate copy from maybe buying a lot of books somewhere else, or upgraded to a better format or something like that. Usually with Hastings' prices/sales I can manage to break even on what I paid for things from them even after factoring in seller fees and shipping costs. The nice thing about some of the expensive books on Hastings is if you can get them in the $5 or $7 sales, you can discover and try some interesting books you wouldn't normally go for. If you like it, keep it for your collection. If you don't, you should be able to recoup your $5 or $7 and break even if the market price was leading Hastings to price the book at $100+. |
