As for people learning from their mistakes I think it's pretty clear that's what is happening here already without your input. People who had never ordered anything from Overstock before are learning not to do business with them in the future.
100% spot on.

Isnt it funny how every forum must have that ass who thinks hes just the grand know it all and can point the finger at people who are doing nothing less but trying to buy an item? I mean wtf is that, who even says that to someone.

How was anyone to know that when you see a store like Overstock which to me is like buy.com which ive never had an issue with, listing a price for an item and you buy it...its somehow our fault? Yea...thats a good one.

People love to one up others on forums, thats what its all about.

Like you said the lesson was swift and learned quite fast, it didnt take some random nobody to tell us that.

So glad I preordered this! Had the book since Monday, and it rocks. Should have bought 10 of them, I would have made a FORTUNE.

The book indeed looks amazing, thats why out of all gaming stuff ive pre ordered and ordered in the past this one has me the most riled up because its something ive really wanted.

Not only is the game through the roof, one of the most addicting gaming experiences ever and a total joy, but that guide book is just sweet as hell...cant wait to get my copy finally.

Amazon cancelled several orders for no reason, and the product was removed from the site. However, they re-listed it several hours later at a higher price than the price those people pre-ordered it.

Many people had to go through CS to get it fixed. Amazon is great, but they are not always perfect.
I never said that Amazon was perfect, as I was one who had the issues with the VC artbook and had to go to CS to resolve it.

Making a statement like "Amazon screwed up my order" without anything behind it doesn't help us understand what the issue is that he went through.

I just about cancelled my Amazon order for the deal at overstock. Glad I was convinced not to do so. Book came and it is nice.

Why do you need to understand it, i mean im just asking with sincerity...am i on the stand or something?

Theres been one or two experiences in the past that ive seen and had happen with Amazon and pre orders, where you pre order and for whatever reason they didnt stock enough for pre orders so what happened is people got put to a "back order" type list...how or why that happens, i have no idea but ive seen it before EVEN with a pre order.

I was forced one time to just cancel and go elsewhere to get a game because of this.

When an order at amazon isnt in "shipped" status when its supposed to be, i cant help but wonder what is going on. Well it wasnt shipping, there was something off about it and i got nervous and seen a listing for overstocks price of the book which was A cheaper and B other people were ordering and i never heard anything bad about them, but then again Ive never paid attention too either.

The bottom line is, sure maybe i jumped the gun early on and im sure thats all it takes for a bunch of forum posters to say "well that was your mistake" ...and maybe it was, but 9 times out of 10 if ive ever canceled an order and bought else where, i still received my order.

As you can see, just like the barnes and noble buyers...they just canceled their orders and thats it.

Amazon has had its bumps in the past and i didnt want to be sitting there waiting for some problem with their shipments to be worked out, meanwhile, sales for the book were going on at other places and then if i miss those and i somehow dont get my book from amazon, im ed.

So...thats basically it in a nutshell.

Haha, as much as I love a good flame war, these boards are too carebear for it. Been a while since someone raged me this hard though; thanks for the laugh.

If you did preorder the guide from Amazon and were shorted for some reason, contact them and they will try to make it right. I preordered about a month ago w FSSS. Last week, I received a shipment e-mail indicating it and a couple of my other orders had all shipped together using a single tracking number from a shipper I had never heard of. (Prestige delivery Systems) Unfortunately, the package arrived Tuesday afternoon without the guide. I had received an e-mail Tuesday morning that the guide had been reported as undeliverable (which was odd since they delivered the rest of the package that afternoon), that my order for the guide was cancelled and refunded, and that I was free to reorder if I still wanted the guide.

Wednesday morning I called them about the situation and explained that my preorder was a month old and at a price of $23 while the only ones they currently offered were $73 from a 3rd party seller. They looked up my order, put me on hold to contact the shipper, and ultimately gave a me a $50 Amazon credit in addition to my refund. The lady on the phone was courteous and apologetic about the situation and even apologized because the $50 credit couldn't be used to outright buy the guide from the marketplace seller.

While I would have liked to have received the guide I preordered, Amazon bent over backwards to make things right when either the shipper or their warehouse screwed up my order. In contrast, Overstock and B & N have both basically told me "too bad" in the past when they have screwed up my order or oversold an item.

Honestly, Amazon's customer service is miles above nearly any other online retailer I've encountered. So if something was legitimately wrong with an Amazon order, there's a ton they could do for you. Just to agree with some of the other CAGs on here, Overstock is absolutely worthless though.

I didn't see that part to be honest, but my point is that there is nothing more that can be said. The order was made in sept and it wasnt in shipped status like other orders are from amazon. It was just a situational thing that lead to my decision to buy from overstock. There's just no other part of it, its two cases of simply ordering an item and not receiving my orders promptly.

Well after my overstock order was cancelled, I can see the refund in my paypal account but its being "held" by paypal for probably another few days... sigh...

in other news I saw I had a BB Reward Zone $10 certificate so I just used that on the BB website to get it for $29.99 shipped. (free shipping on the site, also free ship-to-store if you want. also i am in oregon so no tax).

Glad to see some people are having their guides ship that ordered on the restock, I am just a little upset that I placed my order on 11-10 and it still hasn't shipped for me. It shows estimated delivery of 11-29, but I hope it shows up before then.

Well, my B&N order arrived today. I am still p.o.'d at them for the announced/bogus delay, but it got it in a decent enough amount of time (and I did pre-order back at the beginning of the month).

Haha, just got another 40% off coupon for B&N with the subject title "We want to win you over 100%! Will 40% off help?" lol! Might use it on a regular edition so I can resell the CE.
