If I'm going to sit in front of the tv I already have an infinity of choices of awesome games. $150 is more than a wii, and the wii can actually play games!

edit: but I totally would have bit for $100... I saw that tier and I'm like "OK I WANT THIS TOTALLY" but then I saw it was filled up and then I did the hard thinking and realized I could live without it.
You're probably right. $150 is a bit steep, whereas $100 is the sweet spot. I'm going to keep an eye on the campaign, and if I still feel like I'm excited for it, I'll keep it. As you said, there's a lot more I'd rather do on my TV than play iOS games.

high marks for solomon's keep and solomon's boneyard. very, very, VERY high marks. both are free RPG dual stick shooters (i discovered them because of the recent release of robot wants kitty). keep is set up like a roguelike, exploring a tower room by room, and boneyard is more of an arena shooter. both... just work. really well. the leveling up really lets you individualize your combat style (you pick 1 of 3 skills).

makes me wish there were more games in this genre. i love dual stick shooters, and i love rpgs, and i can't think of a better integration than these.

pick em up.

Of all the hundreds of iOS games I own, both Solomon's games are the ones I've put the most time into. They are SOOOOOOO addictive, it's unbelievable. If you haven't played them, you must.

Cool concept, but too pricey for me. And the iCade cabinet fills that need for me. Of course, I didn't grab an iCade until it hit clearance

Besides, ios games are meant to be played while you're watching tv

sorry for the off topic, but anyone know if you can 'lock' the iphone x2 zoom on an ipad? i know you can lock orientation, but the x2 button gets hit -way- too often by the meat of my thumb when i'm playing games, and is the cause of constant deaths for me. i just want to say "yes, i want it x2. ALL THE TIME."

You dying in games seems totally on-topic. We're trying to get this thread to 5k anyway! The answer is "no". Maybe it's different w jailbreak.

Got the two Solomon games today, really fun. It does kind of suck that at least Solomon's Keep is not ported for iPad, so you have to play with a tiny screen, but otherwise the games are awesome.

$100 is very steep for the game dock... especially considering the newly kickstarted ouya, which is only $99 and is a full console (albeit android)

Tales of Monkey Island for iPad just got a retina display update. The first episode is free and 2-5 are 50% off for a limited time.

the x2 button in the bottom right of the screen makes them nearly full size. i've put a ridiculous number of hours into both on my ipad this past week.

amazing.

AND... some internet research shows that the dev is making 'Solomon Dark', which is basically a super-deluxe version of boneyard, with tons more features, and then he's going to 'redo' Keep as well. (From what i understand, both were originally coded with all the limitations of early gen iphones in mind, and so now he's doing them 'right'.

As far as I'm concerned, they're already 'right' as rain, so any improvement is just icing on the cake.

Looks like Tiny Wings 2 is actually Tiny Wings 2.0, a free update to the original game. Also there will be a new HD version for iPad. What an awesome developer!

Sounds good. Normally I'll wait for the sale, but the dev seems like a great guy so I'll get HD day 1.
Old 07-11-2012, 12:02 PM   #4559
Looks like Tiny Wings HD will be $2.99 (at least it's that price on the New Zealand app store). Hoping for $1.99 but either way I'll get it tonight. This dev is great!

CAG

Thanks for the Tiny Wings update, was just going to post it. So the developer says he hates in-app-purchases so that is why part 2 is available in app. HDversion sounds nice BTW.
