Sorry if it feels like im rubbing it in your nose's guys, just was really excited lol.

So heres the lot, I got everything here for $21, except dungeon master and golden eye which I got $2 each at separate sales.

All complete with box and manuals.

Gamegenie complete with box and manual, super mario all stars manual only. Carts are super mario rpg legend of seven stars, super mario world, supre star wars, and dungeon master.

Games are complete with box and manual. Asciipad is missing manual.

Individual GB game is tiny toons, kirby is complete with box and manual. ren and stimpy and super mario land are box only, no games. Super mario land 2 golden coins was box and manual only, but I had the game, so have the complete set now.

So all snes games are complete except for the asciipad with no manual. Went to an individual sale that advertised video games, was there 30 min early.
Didn't see them out so asked, they brough out a big tub full of these games, 2 CiB original gameboys with box / manuals, and a dreamcast with 2 controllers, no hookups. They wanted 15 for each gameboy, so didn't get them. Dreamcast I didn't want incomplete.
Offered $15 initially for the game lot and they accepted, but then another family member jumped in and said at least $1 each for $21 so I happily accepted that offer.

Edit: With the value of these games, and two weeks in a row of finding good snes games. I need to buy myself a console to test these games out. I've never seen a snes in the wild, what is my best bet? One of those FC twin turbo systems?

Finally had a decent weekend. Will take and post some pics later.

CL/sale BS
Mainly I map out some nearby sales on craigslist - here in LA/SoCal a lot of people post sales on craigslist and roughly an equal amount use other means - signs or various newspaper ads/pennysaver/classifieds. The real problem is the population is so vast and spread out over hundreds of square miles that sometimes the best potential CL listed sales are many, MANY miles away...10, 20 50 miles or more.

Driving around aimlessly really doesn't work well here and wastes more time and gas than it's worth, and there is an enormous amount of competition. So many people hit up the sellers/listers on the CL ads for garage/yard sales prior to the sale if there is anything potentially good advertised/pictured (as do I). Good listings have people lined up or hitting the sale early.

All that said, first stop I cherry picked a decent sized box of comics out of about 6 banker boxes full, all late 80s/early 90s to more recent stuff from a few writers a few blocks from me, $40 total. Nothing I don't already have but definitely stuff I can resell for much more than I paid. Mostly NM but a few VF/obviously read once or twice, highlights include Ultimate Spiderman (original, 1st print) 1-11, most of the MacFarlane run on Amazing Spiderman (sadly, no #300/1st Venom), Kingdom Come all 4 issues (2 and 3 are VF 1 and 4 NM), Ultimates 1 full run, a bunch of the early Preacher issues including 1-5, a bunch of Ennis's Punisher run about 20 various issues, some Alias issues, and some of the Kevin Smith and early Bendis DD issues. Pricing was a bit high on most stuff at the sale, none of the games were notable nore were they worth bargaining over. They were also selling various "collectible" film related memorabilia, but nothing worth haggling over or talking down from the ridiculously high prices.

Second sale, the old lady when asked about the video games listed in the CL ad, said her son had decided to sell them on ebay. I asked if I could take a look anyway and perhaps make him a compelling offer, he wasn't available as it was too early for him (too early being the 10 am start time of this sale ). She had her husband escort me into their packrat/hoarders-lite home to the various boxes of "old video games for sale". I looked over the SNES bundle, system was in good shape with about 20 or so games, all cart only, and the lady had mentioned "$50 or so for the SNES bundle" to myself and the man. I went through the other boxes and cherry picked a Sega Game Gear with games in a big ziplock bag, one of those Gameboy Pocket/Color systems in silver and the only good games for it, and a few PS1 and PS2 games. I CiF'd the man $30 there for what I had put into the box that had the SNES bundle, he said he wanted at least $50 and so I pulled out another $5 and told him that was all I had. After about 10 seconds he said that's fine.

So scored all the following for $35:

- SNES system complete and good shape with 19 cart only games, highlights are Super Mario All Stars + Super Mario World, Mario Kart, DKC 1-3, Secret of Mana, BoF 1 and 2, Chrono Trigger, FF2 and FF3. The rest are filler garbage
- PS1 (all black label) complete RE3 with bonus Dino Crisis demo disc, FFVII missing manual, Raiden DX complete, Suikoden 1 complete
- PS2 Final Fantasy X black label complete
- Sega Game Gear with AC power supply and 5 cart only games in the little plastic cart holders (Sonic 2-Sonic Tails, Addams Family, Super Columns, Ecco, Aladdin)
- Gameboy Color system with cart only Pokemon Blue and Harvest Moon

Last sale worth noting guy posted that he had N64, VirtuaBoy, Nintendo, comics and some toys and had a pic showing 8 comics, one of which was Uncanny X-Men #104 and it looked to be in VF or better condition. I actually hit this guy up earlier via email and he said he was not going to sell anything before his sale but he was starting around 10:30 or 11, and it was in a pretty ghetto area so I figured odds were good I could still score something decent there. Got there and he was asking some pretty high prices specifically on the video games. Nothing rare or worth getting at the asking prices and he wasn't interested in haggling (another one of those "this is $X on amazon, I can get $X for this on ebay" types). But the comics he wasn't very savvy on prices. Scored a handful of older stuff from the 70's for $20 CiF, highlights are X-Men 104, 105, 107, 110; and Amazing Spider-man 134-138 all generally VF or slightly better.

Artrigis I curse you and your seed. Nice finds

SNES is the only thing I am planning on keeping , I'm ridding myself of all the other console games. I see an SNES about every 3 months but they are usually yellowed out or overpriced. Just go with the clone that clones the nes/snes/genesis - 3 in 1.

I've yet to ever see one of those kind of systems that properly fit the carts and controllers or that could probably emulate the sound effects/music.

I mean, they're good for some people just casually wanting a quick way to play some old games for nostalgia's sake but they're a poor substitute for the real thing in my experience.

I got a couple things today. But I found Chrono Trigger which made me super excited till I found out it was for Super Famicom.

I still bought it for $8 (felt like the right thing to do)

Did i make a mistake?

No sales for me this week. Car trouble relapsed and I need a new battery, plus a fix for my brake sensor. Good thing I have a warranty with Costco. Not sure about the brake sensor but I heard it's an easy fix.

Also no sales for me next week because of Comic Con.

Try Retron 3. I bought one because my tv has 1 rca input and I got tired of constantly having to unplug and replug different consoles.

I love it. You can even use the oringinal sega, snes, and nes controllers with it.

Depends on whether or not you can read/translate/understand Japanese and you want it for your personal collection. IMO I'll always pick up Famicom/Super Famicom games but they have to be dirt cheap ($8 would have been way too much for me, maybe a buck or two), but I can always find buyers here in LA/SoCal for stuff like that to resell.

Generally though the major RPGs/JRPGs like that are mass produced so they aren't worth much, even less here in the states. But you could always put a list up on craigslist BSing about it being "extremely rare (in the states at least) Super Famicom version of Chrono Trigger" and hope for some clueless buyer to bite.

Yesterday bought a ds lite with 3 games for $5 ... and it was at 9:30! and marked $5... I can only assume that it was where it was sitting and the sale was set up rather messy ....

that and a $15 balloon ww tire cruiser were my finds of the day...

sold about half of the complete GBA/GBC/N64/SNES games found last weekend and up already about $175 .... which will fund my gas and buys for the next few weeks....
and the cycle continues....

You can purchase a system selector or AV selector to solve this problem. I purchased one for a dollar at a yard sale last year. I have seen multiple of them this year for very cheap prices too. I don't even know what these are called but you will recognize them because it will be the box with a ton of colored inputs. Just make sure if it needs an AC Adapter that it comes with one.

If you have a lot of stuff you can chain system selectors together to get more inputs, I need to do this so I can get more inputs.

Usually get bundles for a good price, 3 total DS so far.

Red / black DS lite with pokemon fire red for $30

Black DS lite in excellent condition, with gameboy advance SP, and about 25 DS / Gameboy games or so for $70 Ended up keeping the black DS for myself and selling my uglier white one.

And today, Pink DS lite with pokemon pearl, mario kart, uno, phantom hourglass, call of duty world at war, wall / car charger, really nice case Im keeping for myself, and pair of nintendo ear buds for $45

Edit: These are craigslist deals. I usually catch ads within a half hour of them posting it.

It's been a few weeks since I posted anything. One week I was in Florida, a couple of weeks I went out and found nothing noteworthy, and I actually slept in for the past 2 weeks. I'm glad I did that actually; it really recharged my yardsaling battery for a strong second half of the year.

It was really hot in my area on Saturday. I only hit about a dozen sales. My first two stops advertised games but were busts. Third sale was unadvertised and I stumbled upon it randomly, but it's exactly why I chase the dragon... it's been at least a month since I made a good yardsale find.

Anyways, I got everything below for $30.

This sale didn't advertise games, and I didn't even have it on my list of sales to hit. I just stumbled upon it at about 7:30am... no gaming stuff was out when I got there. I asked about games and the seller (17 yr old kid) brought out the Nintendo handhelds and gameboy/ds games.

I then asked about any older console games and he brought all of the gamecube/xbox/ps2 cases. When we looked inside each case, they were literally all empty. I almost shat myself in disbelief. He initially was not sure where the game booklet holding each of the discs was, but his older brother was nearby and reminded him where it was (thankfully, big sigh of relief there). He had the discs to almost every good game that I was interested in (the only disc he couldnt find was Paper Mario for GameCube). Overall, a big recovery there.

This was literally the yard sale that kept on giving. He went in one or two more times, and each time brought out a few more worthwhile items, such as the two wavebirds w/receivers, and the n64 expansion pack). Oddly enough, he scrounged up Mario Party 3, but sadly he said he had gotten rid of all of his other n64 games years ago, and couldn't even believe he had one left. If he could only find a single n64 game, Mario Party 3 is definitely on the short list.

Overall, a lot of value in the lot. The DS Lite works but has a cracked hinge. Pokemon Crystal needs a new save battery. Still, a great find, and my best yard sale find in probably 2 months or so. All of the disc games were complete, to boot. Took my gf to Outback for dinner to celebrate, lol. Good times.

Some people had some really nice finds . . . but not me

It was a slow weekend. I did manage to hit a sale that advertised games right at open and got this stuff:

Funny the PS2 games were .50 each but only Kingdom Hearts 2 was worth flipping . . . so I left a bunch behind.

The DS games were $3 each asking price.

Both DSs have broken hinges.
We haggled a little and I paid $35 for everything in the 3 pics.

Still doesn't seem like there's much in the paper again this week. I'll most likely check out a few tomorrow morning, but it'd be nice if it picked up soon.
